Level 80 exotics? What stat/type to choose?
You don’t really give enough information to provide helpful advice. What’s your build like? What are you doing with it? (PVE, PVP ,WvW)?

Sorry about that. PvE primarily. I don’t really get down with PvP. I’m trying to attain 45% crit naturally while still keeping as much survivability as possible. Current build is might to allies on crit with heavy aegis and burning (with bonus damage on enemies with conditions).
Primarily play either sword+focus and hammer or sword+focus and mace+torch.
Current build is 0/25/10/30/5

Hope this makes it a bit more informative. I do switch builds from time to time. Get healed when booning allies is nice, but I haven’t found a way to go 30 up both trees yet, it nerfs my crit below 40%. Eventually the goal is to be 0/30/5/30/5, but I need ot get my passive crit up before losing that 10 point (5% of toughness added to precision) skill in toughness.
I tend to prefer a balanced mix of power + precision and toughness all above 1600 (level 80 total stat). And a lot less vitality.
I found a sweet spot around 14-15k hp, where I have enough time to react to burst damage, and then benefit from all my heal / regen options before I die.
This is for me playing mostly PVE open world and Wvw support roles.
So a lot of knight with some valkyrie in the mix for amour / jewelry. More varied stats for weapons depending on what I am doing (some cleric some berserker etc…)
Looking for thoughts on this build:
My current crit is 42% 1h set (sword/focus), 48% 2h hammer
Seems like a good bet for combined support and high damage thanks to crit and multiple might stacks (should have at least 5-8+ stacks all the time with this build)
To be honest I don’t even stack vitality. I stack toughness and keep my health at 13k. Precision → Power → Toughness is how I stack myself up, and then use my jewelry to cap myself out for hp and condition damage. My current natural crit is 56% and with the one-handed strength trait I’m naturally at 71% with my main hand. After that it’s just buffs/shouts/allies.
Vitality is most certainly important and good, but it’s less important and less good if you’ve gotten practiced at avoiding damage. Dodging/avoiding attacks or timing aegis well is better than taking damage at all.
When it comes to burst, almost all of it in pve is easy to dodge/avoid/mitigate. Blinding a foe right before they drop 6k damage on you is superior to soaking it, for example.
Having said all of that, I’m not as experienced as others and I recommend you take my advice with the understanding that I may be leading you down a dark path.

Knights and Emerald
Pick up p/v/t chest and legs
Already got Emerald on all the trinkets. Knight on chest. Once I get the legs should I go Valkyrie on the other pieces to bolster power and vitality? Also, I ended up going 0/15/30/20/5, finally got my base crit at 42% and 48% thanks to some accuracy runes on weapons.
We’ll see how it goes.
Basically you want 3k armor, as close to 3k as you can get power, 40-50% crit and then as much health as you can stack up.
Don’t forget to use Oils and Foods.
I currently have -
Beserker Chest Legs
Pvt shoulders and boots
Knights and emerald everything else
Soldier runes
After doing some research I think I would have been better with pvt chest and legs.
Gives me about 16500 health and 50% crit 3k armor and 2900 power… give or take a couple.
Been experimenting with beryl earring and ring and valk gloves for 19k health 45% crit and 65 crit damage, but the differences are not noticable.
And yeah that is my favourite all rounder build, does most things really well.

How on earth do you get power that high and maintain 15k HP? I mean, I think my power is probably closer to 1700-1800 right now, that seems insane unless I’m just doing something wrong. I don’t have full soldier runes yet though, so I’m wondering if that makes up the gap….
3k would be attack. My mistake.
