Current form is unplayable as it has a cast time AND requires you to deal damage, this severely gimps the skill as the initial heal is interruptable and the major heal is conditional.

New Litany of Wrath:
instant cast
1000 base heal
for 6 seconds 30% of all damage you deal heals you
for 6 seconds you gain resistance.
30 sec recharge.

Smiter’s boon is reworked to provide 2-3 seconds quickness after using a heal.

The base heal is still terrible and can/may need to be reduced even more since it can be comboed with monk’s focus. Counterplay/conditonal heal is still there since if the guardian is kited the heal is still bad. Resistance prevents poison from reducing heals.

Smiter’s boon minor atm is really strong so I’d be somewhat surprised if it stays the way it is. The new “smiter’s boon” still is aimed at helping deal damage but more actively rather than passively. (Also quickness as a boon also makes the name work)

CD is still too long and requires the Guardian to do consistent damage(which is incredibly difficult as the slowest profession). Not to mention you can still be CCed and completely nullify the effect. Good to see suggestions being thrown out there but Litany would need a MASSIVE buff for me to even consider it.

maybe a lower cast time? I really would buff LoW in any other way. I use it personal and it works just fine

1: lower the cast time to instant

2: Remove the resistance

3: Reduce the cool down to 25 seconds base

4: Increase the base heal to 2k but lower the healing from damage ratio to 25%

After that it’s fine when taken with the new meditation grand master.

Your one of the very few then.

Pretty much everyone uses shelter.

The damage it can prevent you from taking outshines every other heal guardians have access to & its even better with on block effects.

The problem with Litany of Wrath is that it’s balanced around PvE. But no one will use it in PvE because Shelter is still better.

With the buff to might on block from 1 to 3 stacks, Shelter just got the cake.

You could make the cast-time instant, cd 15 seconds and have 50% dmg converted to health and I would STILL take shelter over it. This is how bad Litany of Wrath is.

IDk

if the cast were instant & the Cd were 20 seconds (or lower) after trait I would at least consider it in some situations.

Then it could have good synergy with some on use of heals procs.

I think you should first acknowledge how good shelter is.
If it will be a consecration providing more block time, reduced CD on top of 3 Stacks of might with smiters boon and traited medis and amplified wrath it will be the most kittened up heal in the game. We are talking possible 3.000+ bursts coming out from a heal.

But yes compared to shelter it looks bad like EVERY other heal in this game
Name one that you would take over shelter with the new core specs.

I’d take Healing Signet over Shelter if we had it, just to try it out.

Numbers wise, Shelter isn’t even that good. There are plenty of healing skills that have double the HPS so…

welll wait a second … now its about numbers? okay

add in CD reduction and medi traits we are lloking at 270 HPS instead of 150 , equals a fiftyfive % increase of the healing power.

in addition it can cure 2,8 conditions, deals damage, gives fury + tons of might, blocks for 3-4 seconds effectively reducing the time where you actually can take physical damage to 20 secs, catering completely to the active defense playstyle of gw2.

signets HPS is “only” 32% better and an do nothing

yes this requires two traitlines and three traits. But honestly: Valor+Virtues is a kitten good combo all the way.

You can keep your auto heal signet.

(and yes shelter is not that good in pure numbers)

I’d seriously consider it if it could be instantly cast alone. The key here is that you could chain LoW and Smite Condition while CC’d to sustain through heavy burst.

I think, all things considered, an instant cast is all it really needs to make it competitive. Yes, it doesn’t block like Shelter does, but with Smiter’s Boon and Monk’s Focus together alongside it you’re looking at a pretty significant base heal from Litany, the double proc of Monk’s Focus, AND the damage dealt from Smiter’s Boon, along with 8 seconds of fury to keep the damage up for even more sustain. If you can avoid CC well enough, it’d probably be possible to outheal the damage that would be blocked by Shelter anyway.

But it needs to be instant cast. The “no interrupt counterplay” argument is complete BS when you have a skill like Withdraw that is instant cast AND provides a free evade.

The problem with how you are approaching the skill is that you expect a guaranteed heal when the entire mechanic is supposed to be conditional. There are only two ways two work with the current mechanic
1) make it completely negligible at like 5% dmg comes back as heal and increase the base
or
2) weaken the base heal slightly but vastly empower the guardian during the duration by making it instant and adding resistance, protection, 5 stacks stability, and/or making it a stunbreak.

In no scenario are you going to like litany if you simply value the block so much from shelter.

At the moment, LoW(traited) and Shelter HEAL THE SAME.
But each has an added effect to chose from, 2sec block that can help stack might if you trait in Valor or the 6sec healings based on the damage.

LoW really shines when you have access to AOE skills because the more targets the more heal multiplier.

If you can burn let’s say 4 foes around you for 3k each during the duration of LoT it’s already 3K heal. Not accounting for any raw damage you might do. Shield of wrath is AOE, Whirling Wrath is AOE, symbols are all AOE.

Now tbh Shelter wins in spvp because of tactical advantage of preventing burst while making your foes waste his burst cooldowns on you. But on pve with multiple targets LoW is clearly better.

In order for Litany to have chance to compete with Shelter in spvp it would need:
-to be instant
-to be a stun break

If I’ve said it once, I’ve said it a thousand times (although I might’ve actually already said it a thousand times).

It just needs an instant cast time. That’s it.

Hell, even lower the duration of it to 4 seconds or something if you think it would be too strong. It’s better to have something that is actually usable and a bit weaker than something that has more potential but is too inconvenient to actually use properly.
