What is this new ‘kitten’ term? It might be the singly most annoying thing I’ve ever seen sprinkled randomly throughout posts. I’m not trying to troll or flame, but what words is this replacing? Nerfs? I’m reading posts and still don’t see a consistent use of it by context clues.

I know people get in habits of using terms, after reading arena junkies and other forums for years I’m well aware of “gamer terms” but this one is lost on me.

Please enlighten.

It’s just the profanity filter replacement term. These forums have a weird filter that picks up on quite a bit of things that probably shouldn’t be filtered. Some people have resorted to actually typing “kitten” to purposely make things ambiguous/funny.

Thank you! So it’s a curse word? That’s what it’s replacing? LOL I read a guardian post yesterday that had kitten used at least 10 times.

Well just try write a swear word (don’t for kittens sake) lol and you’ll
see that lovely profanity filter kicking. I like it actually. Kitten is a cute word.
Now I use it for real when swearing, when I start feeling bad about how much
I swear. For KITTENS SAKE THAT AOE DAMAGE!!!

Etc.

We kittenly use them for every kitten we have kittened.

If it makes you feel any better I had to ask what wtk was up with the use of the word kitten about two weeks ago as well.

I tried googling it and all I got was icanhazcheezburger pages.

The profanity filter also ignores blank characters; e.g. if the last few characters of one word and the first few characters of the following word have the same sequence of characters as one of the words in the filter it will be censored as well, e.g.

Finish it!
