Hey guys, I was wondering is there a build that is tanky that provide high survival but in return using a mace+shield will cause burning as the main damage in return? My idea is to come up with a build that help deal with trash mobs, farming, dungeon run and help my teammates with maybe boon, buff or revival etc… It doesn’t have to be a top dpser just curious if there is such a build? Thanks!

Primary gear is all Celestial though including weapons.

For a group, such a build is approximately as helpful as an empty group slot.

Primary celestial for tank/burn is crap, so is the build. Burn was never intended for guardians to be main soruce of damage, as bleed for Warrs, its secondray damage source that you use eventually.

Ic, hmm.. I wanted to setup a burning build seems like I like that kind of style but Guardian seems so weak right now for such build. When I setup a dps burn build I hurt my survival or buff to the team. If I become more of a tank survival helping my team I hurt my overrall dps. =/ There is one build I have that can do dps, have survival and is design more for my build with little burning. However I wanted to increase the condition damage from burn.

Oh well maybe in the near future they will tweak it a bit for us guardian that want to be more on that side of things.

To clarify, condition damage as a guardian is crappy. Purging Flames and Permeating Wrath are both excellent burn distribution abilities though. AOE burning isn’t a bad route to go into, it’s just not worth actually statting your gear our for condition damage. Especially Permeating Wrath, because it allows you to get around the cleave cap on AOE abilities.

Any build with 30 points in Virtues and Permeating Wrath as the Grandmaster Trait, using either a Mace, Greatsword, or Hammer is going to throw out a ton of burns, as well as getting all the other goodies that comes from 30 Virtues. I’d start there and then work your way out.

try out some hybrid setup which with might give you 600-900 condition dmg than your burning dmg will be nice alongside direct dmg
i try the pyroguard aoe build which is nice 700-900 burn constant tick but the direct dmg is too low so i switch to hybrid with 300 condition dmg base and retaliation to compensate with 3.2k attack so the dmg is good and burning does 400-600 dmg per tick plus retaliation 240 per tick

It’s about providing massive Might (boon) spam for your party while being a tank with the proper “tank ways of playing”. Taking damage, healing back a lot.

Hey SaltyDave.7346, that looks like a pretty solid support build that I might be able to use in Fractals and Dungeon run to support my team. I will also test and tweak it base on what I am looking out of it.

Also foofad.5162, I don’t mind changing runes or sigil on gear and weapon but I won’t change y actual armor. It has some condition dmg there is good enough for me. So far your dps build from your guide seems to work well with burning using GS and Mace+Shield. I would like to increase burning though.
