Q:
Agzea – Sylvari Engineer – 80
We, Team Reem [REEM] on Ruins of Surmia, want you! /w me in-game!
Q:
Hi all!
I am currently on the goal of reaching lvl 80 on all 8 professions, and i have 2 characters i just can’t continue on, as i find the professions boring. The characters are Guardian, which is the worst, and Engineer. So i decided to go look for a build that is fun to play and will make the experience better. So does any of you have a build for Guardian that doesn’t make me exit the game after 10 minutes? Weapons doesn’t matter, as i haven’t gotten used to any of them yet.
Thank you in advance!
/Gammarik
To better reply this we need to know what do YOU consider “fun to play”.
Better yet, explain what in the class gameplay makes you exit the game after 10 minutes.
Pls clarify what you think is good and bad so we can point you in a direction.

Well, i’ve always loved the fast paced combat (my main is a Thief), and i tend to use professions the way other MMO’s would have made them (Mesmer using ranged as they’re scholars, Guardians using melee as they use heavy armor) but that can be altered.
I find the long arm swings the greatsword on a Norn have, quite annoying and i takes a lot from the gameplay, but it’s not neccessary to avoid. I’ll probably have more fun using a build with survivabiliy over plain damage, and i’ve for a long time only used “Selfish” builds, so i’d like to give support a try, but it may not be for me, as i’ve never tried it.
Sorry for not including it in the original post I know a lot of the stuff is very minor, but i’m kind of a perfectionist/graphic addict

One thing you might try is my own Boonway build—it offers fairly fast-paced gameplay (permanent swiftness), decent durability, a ton of supportive options, and the ability to “stick” to targets very effectively. It’s weapon-independent, so once you decide what weapons you like, you can stick with them and be effective. It also excels in a number of roles, depending on what gear you pick.

Well that is until the boon hate and steal comes in. Then Boonway = Deathway.

Thanks! I’ll take a look at it and see if i like it! If anyone else has some ideas, i’d still love to see them!

I have yet to see that in these patch notes. Warriors have to trait deep into a tree that very few warriors are interested in to pick up their boon hate mechanic, and even then it doesn’t completely counter protection; besides, warriors were basically a free kill before. They might actually have a chance now. The thief boon stealing skill, while interesting, can be easily dodged.
Necros and mesmers already had boon hate (or at the very least extremely powerful boon-stripping) mechanics, and while mesmers were annoying, it was mostly because of confusion, which has been nerfed into the floor. Necros are a pain, but that’s because the few people you see still playing necro in WvW have stuck with it through thick and thin, and are generally very skilled at their class. Either way, it wasn’t enough to break this build then, and I doubt the new mechanics will either.
Besides, boon hate doesn’t even really exist in PvE in a meaningful way, and without OP specifying PvE/WvW, I’m going to assume PvE.
