Mace, Shield, Torch
The truth is they’re just not worth taking over any of the other weapons you have to choose from.
I think they fit specific builds quite nicely, but generally speaking, they’re not normally worth taking imo.
Does anyone use these weapons? If you do, do you use them for pve or wvw or spvp? What stats?
I do mostly pve on my guard and I never use these weapons. In fact I don’t own them. As I am going through and ascending everything out I am missing these weapons and am going to make them. I realize that these might not be as popular or efficient but that could change, and I’d rather have them then not have them.
Torch for PVP, range + flamethrower isn’t bad when you have a like 3v3 or something on a node everyone strafing each other keeping their distance.
Shield, pretty much trolling in WvW to knock people down and off of things. Then here and there for a little bit of projectile defense in PVE though not really needed, but overall no, the skills aren’t terrible but too short for too long of a refresh.
Mace, it’s a healer weapon in a game where healing has been made pretty pathetic. That said I’ve gone bunker guard vs bunker guard with a guy using this, me using staff/hammer and the fight never ended… it was kinda funny. The only time I’ve really taken it out and thought I was doing much good was that Fire Shaman Fractal, lots of damage being thrown around it’s nice to be able to bump back up, though not sure if that’s more due to me and my groups newbishness on the fight, or whether it would actually help most.
Mace works well in PvP in dps meditation builds. Good burst on #3, helps with a bit of survivability and if traited well the symbols can be pretty potent.

Torch can work well too with a s/f sw/t build, the #4 attack deals some good damage.

I sometimes use torch if going for a sword/scepter meditation build. It may be good to have some reach when using sword (threaten people with zealot’s flame) or double teleport on them and shove it in their face but the 5 skill is awful most of the time unless you’re trying to blind hit a escaping thief with a sliver of health left. Torch is just too telegraphed but at least it can be scary
Mace is sometimes okay if I want a dps build with high survivability but I don’t want to litter light fields everywhere. Pretty niche and I rarely use it— usually hammer does its job better. The main problem with mace is that you have no control or mobility so landing hits can be tough.
Shield is pretty much only used for me now in the pavillion. It’s a pretty sad case on how Guardian blocks are so lousy larger scale besides shelter (but that’s our heal skill). Compared to something like the warrior’s block on their shield or the engineer’s gear shield is just pitiful.
I think the natural counterpart of shield is scepter since the knockback and the cone effect would be most useful from range, though I’m not sure anymore.

As said earlier, Mace is good for sPvP, both bunker and meditation burst builds. I also use torch with medi burst to keep burning on people for the extra 10-20% damage from traits (2 in zeal, 5 in radiance) Also, torch is amazing in Hybrid condi builds like the one I run.

I like roaming with a shield because:
a) bored with focus, the damage it brings is easy to see and dodge
b) on demand instant knockback (fits nicely inside shadow refuge)
c) dps medi-guard has no other sources of protection
reason b mostly.
on the other hand, I get no utility out of the absorption bubble ( cooldown is too high to make a difference ), the heal is mediocre, the protection doesn’t last long enough.

The torch can be a life-saver supportively if someone gets bursted with conditions, providing that skill #5 removes as many conditions as it implies it does.

I believe it removes 9, one per pulse. Torch is awesome and underrated.

Agreed. I mean, that’s pretty much like a full-cleanse for allies on a 15 second cooldown (untraited).
I wouldn’t really say it fits bunker guardians well since it has little-to-no self-benefit, but for builds that forgo tankiness in favour of support, I’d say it fits quite nicely. The damage it offers isn’t too shabby either.

I’ve used mace and torch (not together) in WvW. Haven’t really used any builds that make use of shield yet though.
shield is awesome but it’s hard for wvw scrubs to use it.
mace is probably bad in wvw but it’s very good in tpvp.
torch is decent every where
The shield is actually a nice compliment for the scepter. You are at range so shield #4 can be an nice buff for your allies in front of you, and #5 is good for the knock back and projectile reflect if mobs get too close.
That’s for PvE, and primarily on the landscape. Elsewhere, like the scepter, the shield is pretty situational.
Yup, those weapons need buffs ASAP
