If the tooltip on skills doesn’t update the damage, and if the weapon attack from the attack power stat in your hero panel doesn’t update either then you can only test it out yourself I guess.

They should change it to something like, “Mace damage is increased 5% Faithful Strike now hits up to three foes.”
That’d be pretty solid, of course, the AoE heal would only proc once.

Mace damage is already at the bottom of the barrel when compared to our other one handed options. I would like to see that 5% increased to 10%.

I’d rather have them make all of the Guardian “increase damage by 5%” traits into a damage boost + other functionality, than just up the damage increase amount. Similar to how Mesmer skills decrease cooldown + add something else, except in this case with the damage traits.
I like traits that add extra features over plain stat boosts, especially for Guardian who is arguably supposed to be less about raw damage.
For Mace, I’d like it if the trait allowed Protector’s Strike to apply Protection even if you actually blocked an attack.

The Mace is actually a decent weapon with the right build. I’ve got +4k crits with Faithful Strike, and then I’ve hit +7k with Protector’s Strike. Which is really good for a block and AoE dmg.

Yeah, it’s a slow weapon but Faithful Strike and Protector’s Strike can actually hit pretty hard.

The damage boosts are all pretty lame. I would personally like to see them removed for something way more thoughful and interesting. Add damage traits are lazy and boring.
quick ques – what do mace users slot in for the sigil? and usualyl with what offhand / sigil combination?
i’ve grown to be quite a fan and when i am sporting the mace, i do plan to switch to this trait perhaps. and the mace CAN hit hard when specced for it. it’s great fun as well.

I just use Hydromancy on my Mace. My offhand, Focus, I use a Rub Orb.

I normally run some kind of supporty tank build using mace + shield (I WOULD use sword but it’s 100% awful for my build) so my mace sigils are usually something like Life, Restoration or Water if I know I’m getting fury, I’m using Altruism runes so I’m currently running Sigil of Water. I decided to run Sigil of Speed on the shield because Guardian has such low mobility, especially with that setup and I’m loving it! I did the entire southern invasion of Orr in Straights of Devastation with 1m swiftness on the whole time.
But back on topic! I agree that perhaps 5% is a little too low and the trait itself is a little dry compared to Mesmer and Warrior equivalents.

nice hydromancy is a sigil i’ve always been a fan of and building something around it. heh.
speed is a good one. i’ll have to look into that.
5% is quite small. hmmm, and if not 10%, a 5% increase with some sort of added effect would be nice, let it be reduction of cooldowns or what not. hopefully the mace can get a bit more love as it is a very solid weapon. mixes very well with both shield or focus, depending on if you wanna go more group or solo oriented play.

I’ve been looking for a Mace/Shield WvW Build for quite some time, are there any “viable” ones out there?
I’m not a fan of Mace/Shield in WvW, there’s really no synergy for it to work well in a huge environment like that. All people have to do is kite, and you’re pretty much screwed. On the other hand it’s great in PvP for holding points.
Mace/Focus is pretty much my favorite 1h combo. You get two blocks that do massive AoE dmg, with the right build ofc. Mace/Torch as works fairly well.
