Ok so I mainly roll my berserker Mesmer so I’m used to the high bursts and what not, but I decided to get my guardian to 80 for a change in play style. I’ve been experimenting with different builds and I prefer the maximum gs dps ones, although I can’t get it exactly right. I’m having trouble finding the right trait placements and the exact runes and sigils i need to be running. I’ve gotten a lot of different advice concerning the runes since guardians have low health pools. Mainly I’m looking for a complete build that will maximize my dps with gs and allow me to sustain damage.
Well, I suppose you’ll need to at least go 10-25-x-x-5 to get the bonus damage against burning enemies and enemies with conditions and also get might from virue of justice.
Dunno about the rest of points though.

Since you are new to guardian i will tell you :
you can go for an full berseker build/ruby orbs wich might provide you high DPS, however guardian got 10000 base hp an his defence comes from boons and defensive traits lines.
i would recomand to have at least decent hp or armor

traits explanations :
15 radiance – virtue of justice is renewed when you kill an foe-it become spammable
15 in zeal 10% damage against burning foes
25 in radiance – 10% damage against burning foes
10 in valor – 120 precision – 100 armor and 10% critical damage
20 in honor -you get perma vigor for some mobility , and 20% faster skill reuse for GS.
I’m trying not to be sarcastic about this, but the guy asks for a Max DPS GS build and you two give him a Right Hand build instead? Why?

Also, this might come in handy in the future when the OP notices the risk of playing a glass cannon in melee are not worth it, and maybe switch to the overpowered (but boring) Scepter DpS builds.

20/30/10/0/10 with scepter, Smiting on a large target is the highest possible theoretical DPS you can get. In practice though you would probably want either 20/30/0/20/0 or 10/30/0/30/0 to maximize group DPS through Empowering Might stacks.

I’ve lost a lot of faith in Scepter lately. It doesn’t hit moving targets reliably and won’t hit your desire target if anything is in front of it. On a solo stationary target it does well but we don’t get that very often. It is however my default secondary weapon loadout due to our lack of ranged options.
