With the LB you can chose at last to sacrifice Judge’s Intervention for a trap (there’s one that inflict a lot of damage summoning swords that inflict damage when a enemy cross over it, very good for a fight in the mid).
But there will never be a guardian in spvp witout meditation or without shouts that heal.
Guardian have not enough health to be able to chose utilities that don’t give him life.
Anyway, yes, I hope they will chose to give us more trap based traits. Actually all traits focus on virtues and longbow. Good, but we have already a entire traitline that focus on virtues, we don’t need another one.

well i do not agreed entirely since you can technically create a build that does not require either shouts or meditation – it will just be not as good. and of course never say never.
The core problem you described remains though:
medis and shouts are both tied to the same benefits.
Sustain + condi clear + x
(x being either damage or boon support)
the combining features just make them too good and efficient in what they do.
however shouts require two traitlines where medis only need one making medis the go-to choice imo.
The big problem of the guardian is that without equipment or traits that increase your vitality we have only 11,5k of hp.
That make us unable to build a efficent build that don’t include a good way to heal ourself, expecially in spvp (shouts or meditation).
Then, you can make offcurse a build that don’t include it. I’ve see in the past builds with spirit weapons (when tye was still viable) and actually there’s someone that try sometimes the Signet build.
But the problem still remain: out low hp pool make us unable to build something that don’t include a self-heal source or to be iper bunkered with statistics (vitality and toughness).
If you want to make a Dragonhunter in soldier/sentinel you can obtain the survavibility of other classes, but you will no more be able to inflict high damage.
Then, at the end, we’ve never had a good Ranged weapon with Ranged utilities and that can make us able to use a marauder build with full traps and LB (traited it will knock back and slow your enemies and that’s good). That can make us similar to the actual gameplay of rangers that try to not be focused and shot from above, but with some good traps. In spvp thheres 2 traps that can really be good in a fight in the mid.
But if someone focus you you’re dead.
It’s all to see and all to be discovered.
I do not think JI will be the meditation that gets dropped. A JI/True Shot combo with traited Heavy Light (the knock back trait) is an incredibly devastating opening move that can set up all sorts of fun rotation attacks since TS with traited also gives you stability to pull off other attacks. (JI/True Shot into GS 5, pull back into GS2. JI/True Shot followed by Soaring Devastation resolve into Hammer 4 etc)
If anything I think CoP might get dropped for Light’s Judgment trap if the meta shifts away from condis enough and Medi Guards don’t have to be at 0 range from all the AoEs all the time

Much as I’m enjoying my GS/HM combo atm I have a feeling I’m going to thoroughly enjoy the addition of a ranged two-hander for Guardians; I look forward to the full inclusion of DragonHunters, silly as the name may sound, immensely

I don’t think Meta will shift enough from condis as long as burning stays this strong.
For Roaming, if things stay as they are, I see the MediHunter staying with the 3 Meditations anyway, and with the way F2 with work I can see us finally having a way to disengage (FINALLY!).
For sPvP, in Stronghold pretty much same thing, unless traps becomes some meta do kill NPC’s but I doubt it. I’m also curious how Dragon Hunter will work with support because support Guardian might become the meta here (protecting NPS with Consecrations doesn’t sound bad). In Conquest Traps seem to have a place but we will never go more than 2 IMO (This is including Heal and Elite, because if we only count Utilities I say just 1 as mentioned before by Darknicrofia).
I’m so sad I can’t be part of this BTW, if I don’t buy the Ultimate version I will only buy HoT when it comes out as a physical copy (Saving money as crazy!)

I’ll be running Carrion on bow/scepter/Focus or Shield offhand and two traps. My heal & elite will be medi but will take PF over JI. Considering 2x F2 & F3 + Elite + Shelter + Focus/Shield means i’m going to be a pain to kill in spvp. That said, conditions will eat me up and if i’m not sitting on a trap at all times, i’ll easily get bursted down.
Not saying it’s going to be viable but people will run either 2-3 medis or none at all, depending on playstyles.
