Kinda just got back into the game. Wanting to play DPS Guard.

Currently using the popular build for it.

My question is how bad is it to swap Sceptor/Focus for Hammer. I feel hammer gives a better “team” utility in it’s CC.

I say if it suits you better, just go for it. You’re losing the ranged attack but if you can deal with it and feel comfortable just do it.

Ok, seriously, Metabattle or cheese builds are not mandatory, less in PvP where seasoned players kinda know what each class is capable of.

What about Scepter/Torch+Hammer? You’ll get nice burning and CC. Problem with Hammer ATM is that Glacial Heart means no condi cleanse from Absolute Resolution. Go test and tell us how it was.

Go for it! And try every weapon and build! Until you reach the top1000 in EU or NA you can play practically every weapon and be successful. And get a team/guild! A hammer gua really shines in a coordinated team environment!

You will lose a fair amount of sustain and control. The hammer pin is much easier to dodge than the sceptor pin. You also can’t keep pressure vs an ele who keeps putting fire on the floor without your ranged weapon. You lose your 3 attack block from focus#5 , condi clear/blind from focus#4. Your big 5k burst attack from focus exploding as well as the symbol from the scepter you can place at distance to distrupt a rez without putting yourself at harms reach. The things hammer brings is a blast finisher for might stacking and the ring of warding for position control. Hammer fits better for a bunker swap in a map like khylo for mid control. But, like others said, it can be used. Just keep in mind the trade offs.c

Honestly, make whatever build you’re comfortable with and keep adjusting it and tweeking over time and you see fit. Connect with your build and develop it as you go.

here is a non meta cele build that uses Hammer Scepter/Torch. It emphasizes might stacking, has a fire field, and two blasts. Balances suvivability with dps and follows similar concepts to the cele ele builds. Check it out :
