Meditation Build
I make PvP & WvW videos
i’m assuming you’re talking about a triple meditation build? i’m no expert but here is a quick rundown:
go 30 down Valor picking up Meditations Mastery (I) for 20% CD reduction and then Monk’s Focus (XII Grandamster trait) for heals whenever you using a meditation.
Utilities would be Smite Condition, Contemplation of Putiry and Judge’s Intervention (unelss if they fix Merciful Intervention somehow, it’s usually.. not used).
If you’re PvE or WvW-ing, the instant meditations trait isn’t really needed as much. argubly can make a difference in s/tPvP. but as per the utility choices above, only SMite Condition takes like a split second to cast whereas both CoP and JI are pretty much instant cast already so imo it’s not the best use of a trait.
so essentially you get three mini heals with your meditations (depending on your healing can heal for around 1.5k give or take). and they’re fun! especialyl JI. know that a meditation build usually isn’t considered to be as group-oriented in the ways of giving boons or providing support for allies. not to say you can’t play a meditation build if not in a group though.
hope this helps.

I would do someting like this, but only the 30 in valor are a must, like akamon said!
Blunt of Balthazar – 80 Human Guardian
Khan of Feurt – 80 Charr Necromancer
You don’t really need all 3 to be meditations. Smite condition is your main heal since it’s on a 16s CD. The rest are far far longer.
I’ll typically take JI, smite condition, and save yourselves (good for def/off/2nd stunbreaker). It’s slightly less healing, but that second stunbreak has prevented far more damage than I could have healed for with another meditation.
One of the benefits of going meditations is that you can control your heals far more than with AH. It can really help vs. burst damage.
Note This is all from a pvp pov…. I </3 PvE

What akamon doesn’t mention about trait X (instant meditation), is the fact that it allows you to use meditations while doing skills. So if you are in mid animation of mighty blow, whirling wrath or ANYTHING, you can use the meditations. This is a big buff, especially with smite condition, because you can deliver some good damage. Basically it allows you to use two skills at once. Were as without it, you have to wait until you finish casting a skill to use a meditation.

So… you drop contemplation of purity (which breaks stuns) for save yourselves because… save yourselves breaks stuns? My brain hurts.

CoP has less utility than SY. It’s only really usefull if you expect to face condition-heavy teams.
That being said I think
Smite Condition, CoP and Stand Your Ground are way better utilities than what Aberrant listed. SYG gives stability which is huge for PvP… for PvE then SY would trump SYG. JI is just not worth it unless your going pure DPS.

Wasn’t saying it wasn’t a better skill in most situations, was just saying the logic made my brain hurt. It’s like selling your red car and getting a better red car, not because it’s better, but because it’s red.
Basically, he’s switching out for SY because of the boons, not because it’s a stunbreak (since CoP was already a 2nd stunbreak), but he was going on about how the damage he avoids with SY’s stunbreak makes a bigger difference than the extra heal on CoP would, when CoP also breaks stuns. ?_?

thanks for pointing this out! so the way it works is akin to virtues or shouts, where they won’t interupt any existing skill you’ve cued, nor do you have to wait until a skill is done casting before you can use the meditations.
though, as mentioned, aren’t Judge’s and Contemplation instant cast already? seeing how many Guards already use JI with a variety of other skills. that was my point that i felt it wasn’t necessarily worth picking up that trait, since it mainly affects SMite Condition, assuming you’re not using merciful intervention. however, i do see the merit in having smite condition be instant cast as well. by all means, taking trait X will further strengthen your medi build. i personally just prefer to take other traits in that line. : ))

meditation build is for solo. if you have solo build, toughness+power armor and weap. and cleric jewels they heal up to 1.5K

Sorry I haven’t been in the guard forums in a while… with the build I use I pick up Indomitable Courage so I get the stability that way for when I want it. I do agree that stability is important ^^
JI… is something I just LOVE to death. JI + RoW is just TOO boss not to work in. It’s also saved my life more times than I can count. I’m in trouble! Oh look… a bunny far far behind me… target it and use JI to teleport 1,200… zomg an escape for a guardian
For dealing with conditions you can use runes of lyssa… or some -condition duration food will make it fall off very quickly. I use -cond duration food + smite condition together and it works very well for dealing with conditions.
Signet of Judgment is also another fine choice to reduce incoming damage (which I used to use when I was running AH).
There are a lot of great utilities that work well with specific items/runes/builds in the end it comes down to personal preference and playstyle.

It’s 1960 + 10% of your healing power per meditation
