Sigil of Battle went up to 4.5 gold (ish) from 1gold (ish)

Sigil of Strength went up to 7.5 gold (ish) from 2 gold (ish)

any ideas as to why??

Sigil of Strength has a recipe at lv 400 weaponsmith:

Ingredients:
1 Orichalcum Ingot
2 Onyx Lodestone
1 Glob of Ectoplasm

Guess I know what im doing this weekend.

Lodestone prices are sky rocketing at the moment so I am guessing this has something to do with it. Even Ectos are more expensive now.

Engineers got sigils working with kits, strength and battle being one of the best choices..

I would say the engineer population finally getting access to sigils on kits might explain it. On-crit sigils work nicely with the flamethrower, and on-swap are a good match for kits in general. The popular power/grenade builds main damage source have been nerfed hard, so it makes sense that might stacking sigils are in high demand right now.

It is the bots in Orr that are driving up prices.

I ran past about 40 of them last night, 20+ gathered in one location opening up the way points all over Orr. Considering I have only seen about 20 bots total in the past 3 months, seeing this many at once was pretty disheartening. I stopped to report them all, but doubt anything will be done about it.

Bots flood the markets with coins causing all prices to go up. Get rid of them, and watch the prices come back down.

No, it really is the engineers. I’ve bought 3 might-giving sigils in last couple of days for mine. With kit swapping and proper rune/trait choices it’s easy for an engi to maintain 10+ stacks of might. Good thing, because engis need that many to do sort-of-average dps in comparison to other classes.

How can a bot that requires nothing in terms of demand and supplies an abundance of items to the TP cause prices to go up? Bots cause competitive pricing which drives down the market, and is the reason a lot of sellers hate them, they trivialize the effort people put into farming with their low prices.

Bots aside, the issue is onyx lodestones have doubled in the past week and are only go up because their supply is limited and their demand is high. In addition, sigil of battle is the best DPS option for engineers atm, because their kit swapping does not have a cooldown and they can stack might as fast as the sigil cooldown allows. This allows them close to 100% uptime on 25 stacks of might along with some other traits and runes.

Those two reasons alone have driven the price of battle up

What isn’t going up price wise in this game… Don’t even think about swapping specs at this point in time especially if it is gear dependent. Box of gear is 20+ gold now and you may not fair any better bidding to piece it together. Accessories same, as are sigils, weapons, and what not.

All things considered I think this is one of the bigger problems Arena Net has on their plate which is the economy. I know there are ways but not everyone like to do some of the things that are on the table. Playing the market, farming or playing the DR game, or running instances. It is what it is though but figured I’d just say to the OP yeah.

It sucks. And yeah. Everything has been on a steady increase over the last few weeks it would appear.
