Mobile, fast Guardian?
Northern Shiverpeaks
1: nearly, with Save Yourselves and Retreat + boon duration and Superior Aria
2: not beyond Swiftness
3: Sword, Greatsword, Scepter
4: Sword, Greatsword, anyhing if you have Judges Intervention
Weapon speed really doesn’t matter though. If you want mobility, have leaps, teleports, and Swiftness handy. If you want to stay mobile make sure you have stunbreaks and condition removal.
Painbow.6059: Ignore what anyone else who doesn’t agree with me has said because its wrong.
Thanks, foofad! And I just want weapons with fast attack speed because I don’t like to attack slowly. XP

Is there any way to make the Guardian mobile and fast? I have a few questions regarding the subject.
1) Is permaswiftness possible without the Staff?
2) Are there any +X% movement speed buffs?
3) What are the fastest weapons the Guardian has (attack speed)?
4) What are the most mobile weapons the Guardian has?I’m a Guardian newbie, obviously! Help would be appreciated! XP
1. Permaswiftness is indeed possible without the staff. SY + Retreat, 2 superior monk, 2 superior water, 2 major water runes.
2. No, not really, unless you count perma-swiftness.
3. Fastest weapons would probably be the sword and greatsword.
4. Most mobile are, again, sword/greatsword. A caveat remains for the hammer, as well—it has some minor mobility, but its primary form of “mobility” is actually restricting the mobility of enemies. With practice, it’s easily possible to lock down an opponent for 5 seconds of free hammertime.
I don’t think setting your traits and setting your armor for permenant swiftness is a good idea. Unless you plan to solo in PvE, there really is mot much use. In pvp, there’s a lot of boon removal and conditions that running permanent swiftness hurts the team.

Well I forgot to mention that I’m a WvW-er. >__>
I think I’ll just switch to Staff when roaming. I’m working on a GS + Sword/Shield build now. :o

In wvwvw you have teammates that could apply swiftness on yourself, so I really don’t see a need in running permenant swiftness.

I’m just used to solo roaming on my Ranger is all. +25% movement speed bonus! :<
The Staff I need for the yaks. xD

When you gear for permanent swiftness via pure boon duration, though, you’re not just gearing for swiftness—you also get a lot of other benefits, including (with shouts) a minimum of 33% uptime on every boon in the game (PvE/WvW—this setup isn’t possible in sPvP).
Consider the build I’ve been tinkering with for post-patch WvW: http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fUAQJARSlYgqCHFyvDfIFSmiVCBtKQQYPwI4rjuKkQA-j0CBYLQYMAEEQkIAJPKrJQCiltht6KalXBRVjIqWXDTIAzLAA-w
Permanent personal swiftness/retaliation/vigor, 66% uptime on group swiftness, 33% personal minimum uptime on every boon in the game. Dodgerolls heal for around 700, permanent vigor/swiftness plus the greatsword make you surprisingly agile in combat, plenty of CC with the hammer and GS pull, 9 condi removals (all AoE) plus the heal signet passive, and surprising durability thanks to high protection uptime and 250 toughness for 10 trait points in Valor.
It truly begins to shine in small group combat, though: most of the benefits you provide are AoE, so one or two of these things in a 5-man mean it’s nearly impossible to CC anyone in the group.

Oooh. That’s pretty cool, though I don’t think I’d enjoy playing it all that much. >.<
I did take some ideas from it though. I came up with a full Berserker build, a Berserker/Soldier hybrid build, and a full Soldier build. (Only the gear is different! Also, that’s without food/oil/sharpening stone buffs.)
I think I might go with the hybrid. See, I want to be able to hold off 5 – 15 people from camps for 30+ seconds, while still doing decent damage. That’s my main goal. Since I can hold off 5 people for almost that long on my Ranger, I figure I can do better on a Guardian! And if I can, then I’ll be very happy! ^-^
What do you think? >_>

the secret is….
don’t let them lock target on You and should be doable :P
theoretically You should be able to acchieve that but You need to be geared and built for group fights and treat that as a group fight – with only one condition – You need to stay in the middle of the veterans and provoke them to charge on you and camp – and then 5 players vs You and Veterans should not be a much problem.
the problem would start if they’ll have they own veterans – then I will be still somethng like 5v1 because veteran could kill each other (considering middle upgrades on camp – without any upgrades I would be something like atacking veterans would kill defenders – but if they atack while supervisor is on the buff that would be funny – consider something like this tactic – when they will be charging enqueue upgrade to give buff to supervisor and then kill them all )
“-and on this occasion I keep mine plate armors”

To answer #2, Runes of the Pack give +20% swiftness duration and 5% chance to proc 5 seconds of swiftness upon being hit, which happens VERY often in zerg battles. Good stuff.
How do you guys deal with solo fights against anyone who can disengage (everyone) from us. I dont have trouble with any class at all unless they are smart enough to realize that I simply cannot catch them if they simply run away.
GS/S/SH
Greatsword and sword is good start. Its also useful to pack save yourselves and retreat for high swiftness uptime and sigils of hydromancy for chills. Realistically, there will be certain classes/builds that you won’t be able to catch if they really want to run away. Thieves, eles, warriors and rangers can all be built so that they are difficult for a guardian to stick to even if you include judge’s intervention in your build. You shouldn’t have as much trouble staying on the other classes.
Use +boon duration food for even longer uptime.
