Mobility - suggestion: Signet of mobility
I’m all for the mobility signet, but I don’t think shadowstepping would be the best active for it; Guardians are mechanically not designed to be very mobile. I would instead say we could go with a mobility trait similar to Chronomancer.
Or a new trait that increases movement based on the number of people affected by shared buffs (like Str in Numbers). That or a new trait that can add a new source of swiftness outside of the Shout builds.
last time i bring up about “come on 25% movement for guardian”, someone reply me like “stop that joke, that’s not gonna happen”….or something like “you’re a guardian, you dont need speed blablablablablbala you’re supposed to be slow blablablablaba”
i know i want that 25% movement speed, like seriously, we are the only class who doesnt have access to it except using traveler runes, which will sacrifice your kitten..
someday, i hope….someday…
then…i can finally enjoy guardian 100%…

I think, if anything, OP’s point about Signet of Mercy needing to be replaced is very much valid. It is semi-arguably the most useless utility skill in the entire game, and we could definitely use the speed boost.

Or – Just change the passive of Signet of Mercy to 25% Run Speed, then change the Active to be a Shadowstep to down’d ally and rez them, but reduce the casting time to 1s for the active shadowstep.
That would be very nice.
Usable for DPS classes as well as we’re typically not even going to try and rez due to cleave spam.
As a former main guard i’m all for some way to gain +25% speed, but having a shadowstep for the active (a full fledged mesmer Blink, even) seems too strong to me.

First and foremost, Signet of Mercy does need a giant change. I cannot name the last time I had the skill on my bar for any reason. It’s useless in it’s current form.
Secondly, and it’s taken me a long time to accept, Anet will never give the Guardian a mobility boost. Our teleports are meant to close the gap in combat. They see the guardian being the “first in, last out” class in fights, and giving us 25% movement would conflict with the design philosophy of Guards.
That being said, because every class has access to some sort of passive boost, you find Guardians running Trav runes to accommodate. Having to stick with those runes really limits build diversity in WvW, which is a shame.
Personally, the solution I wish for would be for Anet to consider removing all classes 25% boosts. Passive or otherwise. But the uproar against that would be insane.
Unscathed Contender: Increases damage done by 20% for 6 seconds after blocking an attack, increases movement speed by 25% while under the effects of Aegis.
BOOM done. How hard was that?

Lets not forget Mesmers who only have their focus for swiftness out of combat and it’s not even 100% uptime. Every class is balanced for in combat and out mobility, and with guardians having retreat as well as staff for permanent swiftness they are not low man on the totem pole for mobility.
I would love some movement speed where I’m not sacrificing a whole rune (Traveler) to be just as fast as majority of people around me. Especially thinking about being DH soon. I can imagine it would benefit a long ranged character quite a bit.
You’re suggestion is way overpower. Our mobility is fine if you use travelers or run staff. What we need is a disengage. Make JI or MI ground targeted. ( not this junk about ground targeted if there is an ally)
I like this.
Signet of Mercy is useless and they will never try to make it at least usable, then is better to straight replace it. But if its active is stun breaker and teleport to your foe (similar to JI), then the cooldown should be at least 60 seconds. Personally, I would like to see another active effect, but no idea.
And those say that would be too powerful to have a passive 25% increase in movement, you are sacrificing a utility slot to get mobility.

I……. you’re seriously on to something with this. Though I would change the trigger effect to be specific to aegis. (Remember shelter)

I get ur point. And i agree, a longer cooldown (like 60 sec) would be better. My idea was to create a combined solution for lack of a ground targeted teleport and no movement speed boost. But in this case, u can’t get both at a time. If u teleport, u sacrifice ur movement speed for quite a while. And as u say, an utility slot is needed for this, so mediguards will have to think about, which meditation they will sacrifice for this. Not an easy question, imo.
This is, why i really don’t think it’s overpowered. It would be an alternative way to get mobility (besides from traveler rune). But its not for free, not just an addition in a random minor trait line.
Honestly I would prefer a trait similar to the chronomancer that gave +25% run speed & -33% chill/cripple/immobilize on you.
A trait would offer a good choice, between mobility, utility, survivability & damage.
