Dragonhunter has been going in the right direction, but it still needs a little work……mainly the virtues.

The virtues are lackluster, and aren’t a polished mechanic at this stage.

Virtue of Justice: This Virtue doesn’t really offer anything other than a pulsing 2 stacks of burn, and a 1k initial hit (on marauder). The pulsing burn isnt the greatest, because burn guard wont really want to take the dragonhunter line, and dps and bunker guard both get nothing out of it. This virtue needs to offer more to guardians, especially if there’s a trait that lowers the cool down of this virtue if you successfully block.

My suggestion is to allow it to have a pulsing cripple, so that it actually is effective on any sort of guardian build, and that also allows it to synergise well with the damage increase on crippled enemies. This obviously puts the trait “Big Game Hunter” in the spotlight, since tethered enemies are hit for 10% extra damage, but this trait is lackluster at this stage, and stacking this and cripple damage will make it so those traits are considered to be taken when creating a build

Virtue of Resolution: This virtue is actually really powerful where it is. a 4k heal on marauder, and its skill shot + small radius makes it so landing it on team mates is something that could be really clutch. However, my issue with it is….because it cleanses immob at the start of the cast, if it is interrupted, the heal and cleanse is also interrupted if you traited for the 3 cleanse in virtues.

possible solution could be to make the effect of the virtue at the start of a cast, and have a separate heal for the landing to land team mates or just for mobility? Something needs to change, because an interrupt should not put this on full cooldown

Virtue of Courage: the 1/4 cast time is odd. I’ve already confirmed that if you get interrupted while casting this virtue, you actually do not receive your stability (when traited). Possible solution? Make stability instant, and at the end of the cast time, you get the new function block?

Virtues in general are the only thing right now that are lackluster for dragonhunter, id still much prefer my old virtues with dragonhunter than these new ones. Also the issue of not being able to use virtues while invulnerable needs to be addressed somehow. being forced into Renewed focus without being able to use virtues is something top teams can consistently do. at least make it so that the virtues are easier to complete casting when being focused.

Overall DH has potential, it’s actually quite strong right now because of the fragment trap. But if that trap is bugged, then Dragonhunter might just go back to being unviable again (in a pvp sense)

Pretty much what Sunfish said.

I think we learned something from this beta weekend with the fragment of faith trap. This actually made DH sorta viable, and should be looked at as a positive note.

Some other things to note about DH:

Virtue of Resolve is affected by cripple/chill and that is a bug. Also this should be a leap finisher honestly. The cleanse from the virtue traitline NEEDS to cleanse its condies at the start. This should be the advantage of going into virtues if you decide too. The passives also need to remain active as well.

Virtue of Courage needs to be instant cast. I don’t really understand how a block isnt instant cast? No other block in the game isn’t instant cast lol…..Makes zero sense. On top of that, it can be used as a stunbreaker that gets interrupted? This has to go, which brought up the point sunfish and I said. A stab/stunbreaker that can be interrupted? How does that make any sense….The same goes for the other virtues.

Traps

Traps need more utility. Whether its condi clear, passive boons, heals, etc…while standing on them or after activation. They should also allowed to be used at range. Im sure many have said this. Since we have traps already, there is no getting rid of them. Since we are not a mobile class, having defensive/offensive capabilities while sitting in our traps or more utility will make up for our traps. They could almost act as wells but the inverse for some so it helps you/allies.

1) Fragment of Faith I honestly would say leave the damage or let it proc the way it has been in the beta weekend. This made this trap the go to and made DH worth playing and taking traps. Also the aegis’ drop to far away from you after activation imo.

2) Test of Faith has potential. I feel this should almost act like a static field, where it dazes upon hit, or standing in the trap area procs damage overtime or some sort of condition. Or this could be defensive where allies take less damage inside and enemies take more or apply invulnerability to them. This gives the guardian more to its name in conquest such as the true node holder.

3) Other traps need more utility then the two listed above otherwise they’d never be taken. The one with the rotatings swords(i dont remember its name) needs to either suck in the opponents or something. And the reveal trap is decent but not sure how to improve that but it needs more utility then just reveal.

Longbow

Longbow #5 activation needs to go off sooner. Its also very buggy on terrain that isnt flat. In most high tier pvp matches, getting that skill of is a huge risk unless you are a bunker, and this is a movement based game, so people can just walk out of it. Allow enemies to be crippled/chilled while its being cast?

I would like better animation for true shot. With how well you guys polished other animations so far, I feel those on Longbow are dull besides the ending of #5.

Traits

The trait where condies are removed on block/reduce damage when no conditions are on you needs to be reworked. You ALWAYS have conditions on you. Maybe change it so that the maybe there is a threshold? For each one less condi on you, you recieve less damage? So the less condies you have on you the less damage you take.

Yea, I made several posts on the BWE thread about making f3 an instant cast. The fact that it gets interupted, then we lose out on stab, the blocks, prot/aegis just makes no sense, especially when its on a long cooldown. Another big issue is f2 being interupted, anyone can CC you mid leap and you basically lose out on everything and that can get you killed easy since virtues are our main source of survival.

Another issue is Test of Faith, when dropped it does no damage. Only damage from this trap is when someone crosses over the aoe. This should be made like Ring of Fire where there’s initial damage when dropped, then bonus damage for every enemy that crosses it, that would make it slightly more viable.

Longbow is really strong atm, only needs some minor tweaks, maybe unroot us when we true shot and lower the cd/cast time of hunter’s ward.

Spear of Justice needs a second activation where you pull the tethered enemies. This would make it perfect.

You guys ever heard of counterplay? Getting interrupted is part of the game. If you don’t want to get interrupted, pop stability or Aegis before using these skills.

SoC grants both Stability and Aegis, the fact it can be interrupted and put on full cool down therefore not goving you either buff is hilarious.
