My first problem encountered with THE GUARDIAN !
Use staff. Just by using the 2,3,4 skill you do damge. And at that point you can switch to a dps weapon till the 4 skill’s back up. As long as you tag a mob at some point, and you should be more than able to attack at some point or your doing something seriously wrong, you get access to loot. Now if your just not getting good loot thats normal and just bad luck. Most dont above a green or two per zone. Theres zones i dont get any greens then theres zones i get nothing but them.
First: If your support is the only thing keeping your party from wiping, find a new party or educate your party on how to play. This game is high on personal accountability. If you screw up, you face the consequences. There is no healer standing in the back to keep lazy people alive; they have to keep themselves alive.
Second: If you must provide full-time support, use a ranged weapon and turn on autoattack. No Guardian support skill that I am aware of requires you to target another player.
How are you doing no damage. Are you just hanging back and using your utilities and staff skills then just standing there?
Even though you can inch your build to be more supportive, it doesn’t mean you hang out back and do no damage. In fact a lot of weapons like Hammer and Mace require you to do some damage in order to get the support aspect out of them.
I get random people for dungeons , and I think that they are idiots … when I pop up my supportive 30 skill points tomb and I yell : Now , stay closer to me ! … they don`t understand what my skill dose … IT`s a kitten full heal , but it can`t reach you if you are miles awayyyyyyy ! Thats pure stupidity , and my second problem in dungeons is just this , people don`t understand to stay close beside a Guardian , that can do wonders with his protection and health … they don`t understand!!!!!!! I hate theeeeeeeem ! I do ! I say : stay behind wall , projectiles can`t enter , stay in my bubble , STAY STAY STAY , they just won`t understand … sometimes I left dungeons cuz they are too stupid. I had 1 group that understood perfectly , and we didn`t got wipe not eve 1 time ! Faith in humanity restored… and Yes , i`m using Staff in dungeons.
If it’s a dungeon where you can safely go melee, then I’ve found the hammer/staff combo works wonders. You can consistently place protection/retaliation/etc for your allies through your #1 and #2 skills, and never underestimate the power of staff’s #4 to significantly increase the damage of your group. Both also have valuable CC for when the enemy focuses on someone who begins to run away.
Just let people know to stand close to you when you’re a guardian; you’d be surprised how many people naturally keep their distance even when they don’t have to. Our weapons and skills work best in the thick of combat, so let your more skittish members know that you’ve got their back. Especially in the Valor line, where having allies nearby keeps you in the fight longer.
Of course they don’t understand because the majority of them have no idea why you are yelling at them to stay close in combat when they are maneuvering to try and effectively do what they do. It’s a rather new game and most of them have probably not yet played Guardian.
What you need to do is get their attention and explain why when you say that it is in everyone best interest to come close to you and receive the heal. If this still doesn’t work and most of the party does not understand or ignores you it is time to get a new party! I suggest a nice guild, that way you can run with the same ppl more often who understand what you are trying to do.
Also like someone said, have something like a staff in your secondary so u can pump out a few auto attacks and tag all the mobs for loot.
Like Bassario pointed out, communication is a good thing. Get to know their builds and roles so you guys can create synergy. Like when I group with elementalists, I usually tell them put Geyser/Lava Font next to me so I can use MB for the blast finisher. Or tell them to stay behind our Wall of Reflect against range monsters.
