it’s fantastic to have brought back the Tomes like a dev (forgot which one) had stated that they wanted to do for a “future e-spec”
i’m amazed it happened so fast, only the second specialization, i honestly thought they’d either forget, not bother, or just take much longer

but… why “bring them back”…… only to butcher the already super amazing visuals that were already in the game?

the giant floating book was 100x better than the 2D sprites of napkins it looks like twirl around the “Firebrand” (which sounds like a pretty powerful name for such a laughable animation)

They don’t function like tomes either. They don’t play like tomes, and they don’t look like tomes, so I really don’t know why they’re being called “tomes”.

I think we should send hard feedback, saying that Firebrand looks very lacking the way it activates its tomes. They still have old tome animations in the game, we should have access to those, and now is the time to have it. Firebrand is the specialization who should have these tome animations.

I think that is fair, and I really hope ArenaNet sees and read this feedback, or can at least give us an opinion on the matter.

Don’t expect much to change functionality wise with Tomes. The best that we can hope for is them shaving the cast times on them so it’s at least somewhat viable in PvP… because it just screams lockdown when casting.

Tomes used to be an elite transformation pretty much
that’s what these tomes are
kits, or transformations
you press a button, and get access to a different bar of skills
cast times can be fixed when balance patches hit, but i don’t think we’ve even seen anything yet involving a REAL stat combo, or a real fight, where the Firebrand is able to actually shine
it seems like it’s a supporting offense, having big cast times (which they look on the wiki like nothing over a second…. except for one spell) as long as they have a variety of effects on enemies and allies is fine

New tomes are melee support, mostly PBAoE >600 range skills. Old tomes were long-ranged support and offered very different skills as a result.

People can like this disgusting perversion of the original tomes all they want, but don’t even try say they’re the same thing.

It’s abit of laziness in design, I definitely could see that. Even if you are trying to make it cool by having the pages floating around, the book should be still there. Simply underwhelming and diminish the specialization at least in perception.
