I have been going over everything for the past couple of days, trying to figure out what runes to put into my armor, but I’ve gotten nowhere. I’ve asked my guild for their opinions, but they weren’t much help; there was some bickering over what runes should be used and why. So now, I’m asking everyone else.

I’m currently sporting a full set of PVT gear with Knight’s accessories, and Berserker’s weapons; my backpiece is even PVT.

I’m traited 0/0/30/20/20:
Valor – VI, IV, XI
Honor – III, X
Virtues – VI, IX

I’m running Sigil of Perception in my Mace & Shield and Sigil of Accuracy in my Greatsword and Hammer.

From what I have researched these are the most commonly used rune set ups, but few have stated what their characters look like so I’m not sure if they would be a good fit for me:

2 Monk/Earth/Dwayna
6 Earth
6 Soldier
2 Monk/Water/Hoelbrak
3 Water/3 Monk
2 Water/Monk/Sanctuary
6 Lyssa
2 Water/Grove/Dwayna
6 Melandru

I want something that will increase my health, and possibly my damage output, without skimping too much on the support role that guardians are suppose to play.

My personal favorite is the 2 Water/2 Monk/2 Sanctuary for just about any build (+40% boon duration).

Guards have incredible boon output especially with builds similar to yours. For instance, just look at Save Yourself. 10 sec duration on multiple boons. if you increase that duration by 40% all those boons will last for 14 seconds. That’s not even counting the extra duration you’re getting from traiting into Virtues, nor taking into consideration the multiple other sources of boons you have.

Rune of the Pack increases damage and crit chance, grants support with Fury, Swiftness and Might when you take hits, and the 20% increase in Swiftness is good to walk around.

Rune of Strength is the best for damage.

Rune of Lyssa sucks, Power is most of the time, if not all the time, the best damage increase attribute you can get, and it’s 6th skill is terribly in my opinion. 5 seconds is just too weak to justify, and we can only get it at least every 90 seconds.

The Boon Duration runes are good if you’re granting boons (duh!) but I don’t use them because the higher the duration of the boons, the more effective they are, and I don’t use/have too many long duration boons nor I’d spend many points in Virtue just for the boon duration.
For example, a 10% boon duration increase for Empowering Might means a 5.5 Might Duration. The same boon duration if you use Consecrated Ground + Hammer’s Mighty Blow means a 22 sec Might (up from 20).
Spending all the runes and a few trait points for 50% means a 7.5sec Empowering Might, which isn’t worth in my opinion, but it’s also a 30 sec Might from Combos – totally worth it – if I played with it.

Rune of the Wurm seems decent as well, you gotta see how much 4% extra damage is worth of Power for you, and it still gives Vitality.

Personally, I go for Rune of the Pack as I find them giving the best attributes plus some support.

I changed my runes recently :
6 runes of the soldier .> 6 runes of air.

I didnt feel i needed soldier when i went 30 valor

The one boon i really care about duration is swiftness, but other than that im not sure if going over 2 and 4 something else is worth it..
