Need a PvE tanky build
I would like to see this too…
There are tons of different ways you can go. Some will say that a healing power build is the best, some will say shouts are best, some will say meditations are best, some will say consecration skills are best. In my experience they are all good for their own situations.
In PvE I mostly do Fractals of the Mist, where consecration skills with reflects and such, are very nice, but my build actually focuses on shouts. One of the most important traits you can spec for a guardian is the Altruistic Healing which heals you every time you give a boon to someone. Using this in combination with your staff 4 skill (Empower) will heal you almost halfway up, depending on your health pool and healing power. If you combine that with Pure of Voice, which converts conditions into boons on your allies when affected by a shout, and roll with alot of shout skills, then you’ll have a good time.
Here’s my regular build
Here’s my high level Fractal build
Ive had a lot of success with this build and it’s even a lil bit aggressive if you let it be. I usually swap out the GS with Scepter/Shield in high level fractals or other dungeons where Im more important alive and supporting than I am halfdead and dpsing.
If there’s anything else I can help with, let me know. Good luck
Edit
Added the high level Fractal build too which is a bit more tanky and might suit you better. Feel free to swap out scepter for mace. I just enjoy the distance better. I swap it for mace when I need to get in melee, while standing on the pressure plates in the dredge fractal for instance.

Strife’s Anchor build is a good one, just google it. It’s not only a tanky build, it also dishes out some pretty good dps.

Even though i am completely against GC guilds in PvE i equally as much despise full soldier builds. It serves no purpose, you are merely a bunching bag who contributes very little to the party. Heck a support thief build would be better.
I don’t understand why people go for either extreme end of the spectrum. There is a lot of strength in balance.
Try to adopt what i call a semi anchor build. Zerker accessories/trinkets with knights/PTV weapon and armor. 0/0/30/30/10 spec. Soldier runes.
This is the build I use (basically what Hunter was saying) because it allows you just go in and start smashing your enemies for some pretty good damage – and you are buffing your allies and healing yourself while doing it.
Yet again…i´d vote for Strifes Anchor Build, no doubt!
thanks guys for ur help…. im gonna look in to all of these options for sure!
i guess the only other question i have is if there is any way to implement shield/weapon into one of these builds (since i was hoping to have mine use shield)?
