I’ve got to lvl 55 and would like to have a guardian that can deal at least some notable damage, be able to take a decent amount, and also be helpful as a healer in dungeons. I don’t feel the need to excel in any of these areas, just at the moment my guardian feels a bit of a mess!

I’m a bit confused as to exactly which traits, weapons etc I should take, could anyone offer be some brief advice on what I should be going for?

Many thanks in advance!

First of all, you’re never really going to be a healer in dungeons. That role doesn’t exist. You’ll support your party, but it will be through Virtues, some slot skills and some traits.

If you want modest damage, take 30 Radiance. You’ll be able to refresh Virtue of Justice after each downed enemy, deal extra damage on enemies suffering from conditions, and get a flat +15% crit rate when wielding one-handed weapons. Swords, scepters and mace all benefit from Right-Hand Strength.

Since you want more support, I recommend going 20 into Honor after that. Pick up Empowering Might. If you’re in melee a lot and wielding a fast weapon (sword, scepter), you should be able to keep 2-3 stacks of Might on your entire party permanently. Honor also has the added bonus of having some nice support-oriented traits.

That leaves you with 20 points to distribute. You can go anywhere you like at this point. Some options to consider:

10 Zeal for more damage and +10% damage on burning.
30 Honor for another Trait slot and access to Grandmaster traits.
5, 10 or 20 Virtues for more Might, better Consecrations or better Virtues with substantially longer boons.
5, 10 or 20 Valor for better personal mitigation and higher crit damage.
20 Zeal for Focus Recharge and more aggressive Symbol use.

It’s really wide open, but for a mix of damage and support, I really recommend 30 Radiance and 20 Honor.

I like Power/Vitality stacked myself on a great sword build.

Play around just know that if you focus too much in one area its going to come back to haunt you. You cant be support without damage and you cant ever get a high enough healing setup to make a significant differance overall. Up till 40ish I played a power/vit mace/shield tanky setup that did damage. I find it works but in dungeons greatswords utilitys and damage helped more.
