I have been interested in trying to start up pug storymode dungeons to move my living story forward…

Now I have read up on a lot of builds but I really tend to get confused, while I willing to take a build specifically for dungeons I was wondering if anyone has another build in mind for open world and the living story.

The last two story modes for dragon’s reach 1 and 2 really drained me if I was not down 3-4 times or killed especially at the summit I am constantly jumping around dodging to try to stay out so much aoe that I was forced to go scepter just to get a ok ranged and heavy on soldier though even with some berserker gear mixed in it didn’t help as much as I hoped for survival.

While I do pretty good on my warrior and necromancer for dps and survival my old guardian here rarely gets to play outside the living story and it is real torture for me to finish every two weeks when a new one comes out.

So if anyone has a few suggestions on weapons, gear, and builds I would greatly appreciate it.

Try to stick with the meta build for pve. Look obal’s guide on youtube, get some knight/zealot/ celestial pieces at first, and gain experience on encounters. Warriors and necromancers have both high health pool and doesn’t rely much on active defense compared to guard. You need to time your blinds, aegis, blocks, and invuls. For exemple when fighting trash mobs enter the fight wigh gs 3 for aoe blind, gs2 and 4 for burst damage, use F1 when the first blind is cleared to reapply it, swap to sword focus, use sword 2, then focus 4, then focus 5, then F1 will be up again, etc.. You can avoid 100% of the incoming damage with the right utilities and a bit of dodging. I’d recommend taking 1 point in honor for vigor.

See I did just that, I used my shields both focus 5 and my aegis shield as often as I could.

While world mobs can be ok and even berserker gear is ok to some degree in the wrold or some personal stories, being aoe condtion by vines and having a dragons aoe the whole room can be hell.

While I dodge a good majority of unavoidable or very large consecrations of aoe both from the vines and dragon it still was hard not to get hit occasionally, and eventually the dragon would add in a extra minion or two like the aoe vine that try to use vines on you or one that spewed aoe nasitness on the ground along with the wolves = a great time.

While I try to avoid it that were very few SAFE spots nad even then for 5 seconds if less, so in the end dying 4 times to be overwhelmed with loss of shields, low endurance, and such I felt was good but still I was hoping for more suggestions for survival, that last chapter in this most recent living story just shows I need to rethink my spec no amount of timing with that much on the ground is going to save anyone for long.

Maybe invest in energy sigils and take 1 point in honor? You could also take a hammer spec, that gives you 100% protection uptime provided you hit something. I’m not in game so i can’t give you special advices on that particular fight, but save your blinds for trash and focus on the main boss, i don’t know for this particular one but bosses usually don’t hit too often, you should be able to block through most of it. Save yourselves give you vigor and protection, and it’s a break stun. Is there any reflectable attacks? Are you suffering from conditions? Do you need stability? Depending on that, use any consecration suiting the fight. Take a bit of knight gear maybe to boost your tankyness, but less dps= more time to do a mistake.
