So as a guardian noob, what would the playstyle for this type of build be like? What type of role would you fill in WVW? Thanks
The 0/5/30/30/5 is based on Altruistic Healing meaning every time you give a boon to your teammates you get a small heal. It has more burst healing but its weakness is that it depends on you having a large number of friendlies on you and you need to be constantly performing actions in order to get your healing. So when you are alone, you are very weak. But if you are in a zerg fighting another zerg you can auto attack with your staff and get constant heals and not have to bother looking at your health bar too much
Another popular guardian tanky build is the Healway 0/0 10/30/30 build. You don’t have AH, but what you have is very high passive health regen and fairly high heals whenever you dodge roll. With this build you need to be more active, if you notice your health getting a bit low you need to dodge out of the line of fire for a few seconds and you’ll heal up naturally. But if you aren’t paying attention you can die pretty easily if your regen gets overwhelmed. The upside is that since you don’t depend on others for your self heals so you can hold your own in a small group or solo fight. Personally I find the Healway to more survivable but the first AH build is a good starter build for new guardians. With both builds your job is to be on the front lines of wvw and take hits, dish out pain, pass out boons and cleanse conditions for the other melee around you.

See i like the idea of being a solo zerker. I dont want to be relying on a huge group in order to survive, hence why i like your build. What items/skills would you need for this build?
Also, the nice thing about having a x/x/30/x/x build is that you can switch the AH traits to Monk’s Focus. Along with Mediation Mastery trait and putting Meditation skills on your tool bar, commonly Smite Conditions, Judge’s Intervention, and Cont. of Purity (or put something else in if you want), you’ve got a nice burst heal set up that is perfect for solo play with a focus on bunkering. Personally, when I ran with maxed Valor, I always used MF even when with a group.
heal way for roaming, ah for zerging
AH requires group, and lacks mobility if not using staff
Healway does low damage, bad for any type of pve.
You can try the boonway, basically specs 0/10/10/30/20 very similar to Healway, but use a mix of celestial + zerker gear to get much higher dps at the expense of healing power. You get good damage, and decent survival.
Keep in mind the in-combat armor is actually 2610, and in-combat solo might stack around 12 to 16. You have perma + 33% speed, and good condition cleansing.
You can use whatever weapon you want, but if you use staff, you should change “Retreat” to “Hold the line”.
