Never realized scepter is soooooo broken!!
as in a ghost that you can flail around…? a specter? I think you meant scepter…
Anyways, I think a lot more testing needs to be done before you can say that it is the worst weapon in the game…
And just a piece of advice, if your first language is not english, that is fine. But don’t use “coz” and “sooooooooooooo” and “cata” if you want to be taken seriously. Most people understand the difficulties of getting your point across over a language barrier but it is hard to take someone seriously when they use such informal language to get their point across.
i understand article after i read title
Smite hits targets through floors and walls…. that is amazing. Scepter auto is mediocre but smite is full of laughs. Love using it to demolish siege through walls
Smite is still pretty broken if you ask me. As an AoE skill it still only hits one target at a time and since it’s many small hits it actually get’s less effective the more things that are in it. Assuming it even hits them.

I don’t know how you can save it’s proven to be the worst weapon. I don’t have obstruction issues. If you did, then it seems to be more of a game issue rather than the scepter.
As for how useful it is, I think it’s ok right now. Guardian is supposed to be a high defense class. It has a really long run speed boon which is to close gaps with other classes, also evidenced by the fact that scepter has immobilize on it. Giving guardians a powerful ranged weapon would be dumb, they are supposed to be a melee character.
Replace smite with GW1 Ray of Judgement.A pillar of light that burns and damages.Gets deadlier the more you stay inside it.
scepter is fine, not perfect but fine.
scepter one is boss/kiting skill high frequency medium damage bolt, long range proc plenty crits
scepter two is long range, high damage, low radius AOE, good for stationary objects or controlled enemy, also proc plenty crits.
scepter three is low CD immobilize+invulnerability. kiting or chasing skill,
there is a high level of synergy between scepter skills. it is for:
1) kiting
2) chasing
3) immobilized single target.
can it be better? yes
how?
smite can be a symbol
attack one can be ‘homing’ attack that will hit moving enemy as long as it is in reach.
if it was like this, scepter/focus would be my main set never leaving my skill bar.
it is not “soooooooo broken”… just situational as most of guardian weapons
the smite actually hits a bit further than 1200. U see this in twilight arbor boss stage.
scepter Orb of Wrath is absolutly suck at range 1200 you can easy dodge without dodging or swift scepter auto-attack is good only for range 800-900 then you will mist 3/4 of your attacks scepter auto-attack need buff because is only guardian range weapon and its still mega sucks but we never have any buff GMs will only still nerfing guard (traits sucks) range sucks guardian really need better range weapon (crossbow/1h book offhand(with dmg skills)/1h or 2h throw spear

its very inaccurate, atleast 1/5 attacks MISS on all distances without the enemy dodging, they should increase the damage of it or rework it, if u wanna calculate the DPS of the scepter u should take the answear u get and remove 1/5 of the answear cuz thats how kittening often the weapon misses (if not more)
Scepter is not a ranged weapon and should not be used like one.
The 1200 range of the orb is just theoretical.
Even an elephant can dodge it at that range.
It is more like something to use whilst closing the distance,or
trying to escape, and when recharging your virtues/utilities.
You need to be fairly close to your opponent for it to make sense.
lose a pip,win 2 pips,lose a pip,lose a pip…………..-
-Go go Espartz.-
In pvp maybe, in pve enemies rarely dodge my attacks
So as there is no player elephant in GW2… I doubt an elephant will dodge… mmm… I don’t think there’s any elephant in GW2…

I think the solution is obvious. In order to make the Scepter viable, there need to be elephants.
If you don’t like Guard sceptre auto, check out Necro staff auto. It’s an even slower projectile with triple the cast time… For the same damage, Haha

No…. just no. Scepters are supposed to be range weaponry. Look at the other classes that use them. Yep, that’s, right. Ranged. What’s your ranged options for Guardians, other than slotted skills? Scepters and staffs, which staff is less ranged.
I don’t know how you can be ranged in GW2, especially when solo in PvE… Sure, to engage a fight, this is fine, but once the monster is coming I’m unable to keep range, except a very small one. And for this, scepter or staff is fine, I just run around the enemy, firing…
But for this kind of use I usually prefer the staff, as it can hit several enemies at once…
The scepter 2nd attack is useless while pulling as the mob does not stay in, so you need a still enemy, and this can be achieved only when you’re close to the target, target smashing at you…
Uh …. it’s not really that hard when using scepter as ranged in PvE. You just kite the mob. Use youre immobilize (#3) before using Smite (#2) or wait until the enemy is attempting a slow attack. Or do what I do. Place it down, kiting the enemy in circles, including dodges if you have to, whilest keeping the enemy nearly stationary inside the Smite circle.

Like Greatswords are obviously melee weapons? Flavor is of no concern when it comes to gameplay mechanics. Also, guardian scepter actually is a very good single target dps weapons for pve.
It is completely neglectable in pvp for most of the time, but that is not entirely unheard of. Quite some weapon combinations are worthless in pve and good in pvp and vice versa.
I was thinking it should be a ghostly beam of fire akin to the Mesmer GS#1, personally. Instead of ghostly tennis balls from Wimbledon matches past.
Scepter needs to be fixed so it can actually reliably hit targets and especially targets on the move…

Erm, I’m not quite sure what you’re addressing in my post with what you said.

This really.

My Thief, Warrior and Ranger can all kill enemies solo in PvE before they even get to me.
What you said, however, is a perfect example of Guardian “Ranged combat”!

And my guardian can kill enemies solo in PvE without getting hit once. Yeah, they get in range, which doesn’t help them much.
Each class has different mechanics. We’re supposed to be able to take the hits. We’re supposed to be right there, toe-to-toe. Ranged combat is not what Guardians are good at. Because… if they were… well, then we’d be good at everything and the world would be full of blue balls of rage.

Scepter/Torch is amazing though.
My whole guild during ac last boss laughed hard in vent when I tried to pull the boss with scepter auto attack. The boss was basically crawling and my light orbs never tagged him for a solid minute.
This is when my guildies said to me “your right man, scepter auto attack is junk.”
That’s hilarious, yet… so disheartening…

Scepter is great ranged dps in PVE when you need it(esp with full berserkers and unscathed defender), I have never used it in PVP tho

It is great single target DPS for sure, only problem is the AoE.
