It’s a solid build. One thing to note is when I go w/ the full zerker gear i’ll swap out my food for omniberry pie. The 350+ healing on 66% crit change is huge and makes up for the lack in Toughness.

All Zerker everything on first portion of video w/ Runes of Scholar, then toned it down w/ Beryl Jewelry & Valk Weapon for more HP, as well as changed the build a bit because it was a Keep Defense.

Unfortunatly, I can’t really seem to find a build that fits my playstle, that doesn’t have 30 in Valor… 30% Crit Dmg, Toughness and Healing…

It’s always nice to see another DPS Guardian in WvW. I only saw Renewed Focus once but was sad you didn’t blow all 3 virtues during the cast time. Otherwise good fights, I too love my GS+Hammer.

1/21 New Vid: Zealous Defender #2

No food / Oil.

Great vids Amins. I recently switched to a 30/30/10/0/0 build due to your vids showing how strong the lifesteal food really is and I have to say I love it. I was originally running a 10/30/30/0/0 monks focus build due to the fear of needing the added healing but between GS heal and the lifesteal I tend to get enough.

The new build is fun, for sure.

It really is built around sqirmishes and not massive zergfests. There’s just too much AoE and Boon Striping tbh.

It can work, but you’d have to be in Vent/TS w/ a good group of people and not pug’n it… that’s for sure.

This build won’t work for most people. You really have to pay attention and know what other classes are doing…. lots of anticipation, as it’s not forgiving: IE, you don’t get passive heals, long boon durations, HUGE dodge healing.

I’m pretty sure there’s an 18.2k w/o Retaliation & Burning on an upscaled and then at the end I get a 80 Warrior 7.7k and 8.6k.

Playing this w/ a guild grp is FUN.

Guardian, Guardian, Mesmer is the base.

Quick question. i thought your latest build was 30/0/30/5/5. With not using the GS are you still going 30 into zeal or is there a newer spec I missed also i am curious as to why you go AH over monks focus since you already use judges, and smite condition woulf be a great dps boost to your bar. (just wondering since I personally dont think AH gives constant enough heals with my playstyle to warrent using it, not saying it is horrible to use it.)

Ive been living without stability for a while now so I guess I am just used to it. At the moment I am running a 20/15/30/0/5 Build but I am not too sure about it. I think I just love going full radiance too much for the massive crit chance, since it increases the healing from the food. My 30/30/10/0/0/0 Build that I tried earlier was amazing for damage, but was very lacking on defenses. It worked well for small skirmishes but zerg vs zerg fights were ugly.

As far as your build I think I just lack the correct gear to make it work like you do. As I am running half solder half knights armor, kinghts rings, zerker earings and valk amulet. My crit damage and Power end up being about 20% short and about 200 short respectively but my armor and crit chance are of course higher. I am just not sure If I should try farming for the gear to match to try out your spec, or just work with what I have to make one, knowing I will not get the same numbers.

I’ve ran this build w/ Knights & Lyssa Runes. Alot more surviability (tougness & condition removal + buffs from elite). With your Meditations as utility, it could probably work.

Might want to get a Bloodlust weapon and build up the stacks however.

You will loose a bunch of damage from the reduction of crtdmg and some power going from zerker → knight, no doubt. But I think you would be able to get ‘the just’ of the playstyle.

I actually switched over to a 20/30/20/0/0 build and am rather enjoying it at the moment. The added crit that i get for 30 radiance brings me up to 76% chance with food/oil. While the 20zeal keeps me above 3k attack with my 1h sword. Sacrificing the 100 power for 100toughness and 10%crit damage from valor I think was also worth it since it gives me some added damage buffer, but i actually onl lost a very small amount of damage (literally less than 100 per full zd hits)

This build is still lacking somewhat of a secondary fall back heal other than the food, much like my 30/30/10/0/0 build was. But it does feel more durable and still keeps that good damage output. Also switching from GS for my off weapon to hammer I think was a better idea as it still does some good burst damage and gives that nice added CC to ensure I am able to hit enemies to get my food healing proc.

Gah, I hate it when that happens. I’ve gotten into the habit of rendering the music in my movies with a black screen at really low res (so it’s small and uploads quickly). If there is a problem because of the music I’ll know beforehand before uploading a huge file.

Sometimes, though, a movie can be up for weeks before the music is a problem. But, it’s usually safe if it’s up a day or two without getting flagged.

can’t wait to see this! always fun seeing the same player utilize different builds / skills and armor. and i love the virtues line. have been trying to come up with something that goes deep in 30 with high enough DPS. hmmm.

anywyas, Amins, just wanted to say, i tried out a slight variation of your Zealous Defender build last night with hammer + GS and it was SO . MUCH. FUN. people engage and then after the initial 2 – 3 seconds, they turn tail to run. XDD

though i will say, definitely for small skirmishes in a small group. ideally if you’re well coordinated with them and they know what they’re doing. in zergs? this build not so much made for that. : pp

So, been getting alot of messaging the last week about how this build works in larger zergs. I will be putting something together.

It can/does work, but you need some hefty support (Guard/Ele support).

I’ve put a new vid together and will post it here shortly. I think people will be pleasantly supprised.

2/8 New Vid: Echo Squad DPS [FTF] – Balls Deep

10/0/30/10/20 – Meditations – Knights w/ Lyssa + Beryl Jewelry + Zerker Weapons.

Because I’m runing w/ a group, the only real difference between this and Zealous Defender is that’ the 10 in Honor is for Aegis Heals and 20 in Virtues is for Aegis Grants Stability.

Yes, loosing the 5 in raidiance kind of sucks… actually sucks alot! But hey, can’t have everything… Mor buffs plz!

The healing would actually be better if I went w/ the full Zealous Defender Build, but because I’m w/ a dedicated group, it’s more beneficial to have Stability & Healing from Aegis: Poping VoR + VoC is a nice 2.5k+ heal all around to the group, along w/ regen, protection and stability.

The difference from the lack in Zeal is alot less DPS. People underestimate the Zeal line:
- Vulnerability w/ Symbols
- 5% GS Dmg
- Symbols Dmg Increased

OK. So I have a new build that you might be interested in trying.

It is a 30/25/10/0/5 heavy DPS build that focuses on GS with variable off set choices. (I use hammer personally, as it doesn’t grab the extra Crit in RHS for the sword.) My gear and trait layout is this:

I use Signet of Resolve, Signet of Judgement, Bane signet, and Judges Intervention as my Utilities and Renewed focus as my elite per usual. With inscribed renewal, signet of resolve, and sigil of generosity conditions are not much of an issue. Damage is higher than anything else I have ran due to the 3.5k power, though the crit damage is rather low, the damage is more steady and can still rack up the numbers.

My healing comes mostly from Omnomberry pie/Zealous Blade, along with the increased healing out of signet of resolve, and also the added regen on virtue of resolve. CC is pretty easy with Bane signet, Hammer, and GS #3 and Judges interventions for gap closers. As far as defenses I do run less armor but I feel like having sigil of judgement makes up the difference, and also the added AoE weakness is amazing when you are fighting people with low crit, Also the protection up-time from hammer really helps.

My stats are pretty close to the build calculator stats as you can see in the picture below. I was wondering what you thought of the build and if you had any interest in actually trying it.
