Hello,
So in another theard ppl told me to get the Knight armor (for 0/5/30/30/5) build

now someone in the game told me there is no diffrence in the stats between the armor.. only the look.

i am a bit confused.. can someone tell me how the gear going on here?
diffrence on stats?
and where\how do i get that armor sets?

I crafted my Knight’s set. Do you have armorsmithing leveled up yet?

No i dont, and i dont have gold to lvl it.

When someone told you there was “no difference in the stats” they mean that if you compare Knight’s gear to Knight’s gear they are equal so the only difference would be the look. But each type of armor can have different stats that it raises.

For example:
Knight’s Armor has Power, Precision, Toughness boosts.
Soldier’s Armor has Power, Vitality, Toughness boosts.
But both will have the exact same armor rating.

Since you are new to 80, I would recommend either farming dungeons for gear, or just getting an exotic set from the Orr Temples to tide you over.

You can get Knight’s gear from the TP, WvW or either of the dungeons SE or Arah. SE is rarely run so you might have trouble finding consistent groups. And most groups will not take “new to dungeons” people into Arah.

You can get armour with karma from the temples (you may need to guest on a popular server to find the temples open). http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Temple_armor

Or you can buy with badges of honor or badges + gold from WvW

You can earn armour with dungeon tokens from completing the dungeons.

You could always farm Orr or Southsun with the karma boost and sell the mats you get for gold and buy it from the Trading Post.

As far as I know there are only 3 easy ways to acquire exotic knight’s stat gear for armor: Crafting, Purchasing on the Trading post, or Acquisition through Badges of Honor in WvW.

Knight’s is Toughness/Precision/Power affix. If you don’t have the funding, you may want to try fine or masterwork versions which should cost a lot less, and still give you a feel for the armor. Alternatively if you MUST have exotic armor and you have karma you might want to consider Orr temple armor which can give you 5/6 pieces (minus helm) of the Soldier’s affix (Power/Toughness/Vitality)

problem is, i HATE dougnens :P (hate pve allover)

so i though mybe it is easier for me to buy gems (20$?) and get around 30-40g from it
it will be enough to get the exotic from trading post.
i dont mind paying only 20$ if it will save me hours in doungens.
payed 20$ to wow in the last 6 years so one more time aint big deal.

Yes paying for gems and converting to gold is the quickest way.

But really you could farm enough gold or dungeon tokens in about a week.

I’m afraid 20$ are not enough. You will need armor pieces, weapons, runes, sigils and trinkets. Maybe you sould go with 30$ worth gems.

I highly recommend you start with yellow gear to get a feel for your different options. The cost is minimal and the stat differences are small enough to make your time worth it. Odds are you’ll be able to salvage most of them for ecto’s anyway to make back some of your money.

Personally, with new 80’s, I buy what I can with dungeon tokens right away and fill in the gaps with karma gear. I know a-lot of people love the power/vitality/toughness gear, and it is a solid starting point. However, the people who tell you that vitality is a crutch and really doesn’t do much compared to toughness are correct. With your build, power/precision/toughness is the way to go for armor in my opinion, with berserker trinkets and weapons.

Also something to consider is that level 76-78 Exotic armor is VERY close to level 80 as far as stats are concerned, but much cheaper in most cases. You could pick up a set of level 78 armor for under 5g, I would guess.

If you don’t like PvE what do you play? WvW? If so how many badges do you have. If you have 4 stacks (1000) and about 5g you can get a full set of knights armor.
