What kind of guards would people usually want in their party when doing dungeons?

^ depends on how good you are. That’s the ideal kind but if you’re new, you may wanna play around with more defensive builds first to get used to the class.

A Guardian doing lower DPS but stays alive is better than a DPS Guardian getting downed every 5 seconds.

I like hammer guardians with berserker gear that are good at using cds. Perma protection is great in PUG-land. GS + S/F guards are great too.

I don’t like cleric/tank guardians that do not use any virtues, use GS/staff, and forget to bring Wall of Reflection.

I thought staff should be more preferable since they are supportive?

It’s not a bad weapon, just bad players using them.

Ugh, haven’t we dispelled this myth already?

A berserker who is downed frequently still tends to out-DPS cleric guards who brag about being the “last man standing.”

Furthermore, there is something of a learning curve in GW2 (though I hesitate to call this a legitimate skill-based game), so it would behoove the OP to learn the mechanics of running Zerker now rather than develop any crutches.
