Lv.80 Scrapper (Alchemist Persenia)
Lv.80 Druid (Mender Zalintyre)
Hello fellow Guardians,
I am new to the profession, ( mained a Mesmer for 2 years ) and I was wondering what is the go to build(s) for support oriented guardians. I’m only Lvl. 20 and I currently like using a Mace and shield, coupled with a staff as my secondary. I PvPd a lot with my mesmer, but I will not PvP with my guardian, so I am only looking for PvE builds. (I may WvW in the future)
Thanks everyone.
The most supportive build for pve not including hammer ( because it has flaws for dungeons) is 4/5/0/0/5, berserker gear, sword/focus/greatsword. For fractals and hard bosses where aegis are not a 100% damage reduction outside of speedruns, hammer 3/3/0/4/4 gives the same support as the first build, coupled with a permanent protection uptime.

Surviving and going through the content as a guardian isn’t hard, but giving proper support and playing with a team takes some time getting used to.
^^ What he said, but you could also go Mace+Focus/GS in that 45005 build just swpa out powerful blades for radiant fire. This is assuming you don’t have light field issues, meaning you won’t kitten off the ele’s by using it.

Yeah, if you have an Elementalist in your group, avoid using Light Fields.
Thanks for the feedback guys! im going to use the Mace/focus and GS combo, im loving the synergy between both weapon sets.
Oh another question. I really like Tomes. When is it best to use them? Courage and wrath
PVE wise, pretty much you can pop Wrath hit the 4 for a poor man’s time warp, then swap back to your weapons and fight. That’s about it. It’s a pity but really that’s about the extent of their use.
OP, if you’re looking for support, the above Hammer build providing large amounts of Protection is solid.
If you’re looking for the top PvE DPS build for dungeons, see here:
When fighting 4+ mobs, Greatsword is superior to sword. When fighting 3 or less, Sword is the way to go. Feel free to swap Radiant Fire to Powerful Blades to allow efficient use of both weapons based on number of mobs.
Tomes only have niche uses due to their high cast time and the overall superiority of renewed focus ( more virtues> more condi removal, stability, blinds, might, vuln, aegis, prot- can’t really beat that). Using tome of wrath for the quickness, or tome of courage to facetank big ol’ tom in fractals are the two things that come to mind.
