Hi Peeps,

Ok im a new player to GW2 and rolled a Guardian. The reason i rolled a guardian is i enjoy this play style plus we have started our own little guild of IRL friend to run together, all picking different classes.

We are all ex WoW players from vanilla days so not new to mmorpgs.

Ok the question for you all is AH + Hammer/GS ok to use while lvling to 80 (currently lvl31) if not why (ex wow pally) Am i better going down the GS/Sw+focus way and leaving Valor for radiance+Honor?

I have read a few forums but tbh im rather confused more now than i was before i started to read. By all means I’m no Min/maxer i just want to be a useful tool in my team!

Thx for your time

Mick – Mrslinkyhips – Piken Square

PVE in this games resumes to zerker, the protective way of the guardian comes out from shout and hammer 3rd auto atack, dito, sword is nice for blind spam builds wich imo is really good.

just a side note, gw2 is a game of min max (full zerk in this case).

1st April joke, when gw2 receives a “balance” update.

Well you won’t have access to AH anyway at this level. Here’s a specific video about guardian traits and weapons for leveling, it also works in group but you may want to access to virtues faster in a group setting. Utilities could change as well.

If you want to support your team ( and that applies at any level, it’s just that open world is faceroll whatsoever), you should invest in both virtues for traits and consecrations for utilites, with occasional shout uses and retreat pretty much always on your bar. Since support doesn’t scale with healing power, investing in damaging stats allows your teammates to end the fight quicker, so it’s another form of support. As a guardian, you’ll be expected to take care of blinds, condi removal, stability, projectile defence, aegis, protection, vulnerability, and fire fields. It’s an easy class to master, but its role inside of a dungeon is harder than most classes. If you have specific questions about guardian or how the game system works, either in pve or pvp, I’d be glad to answer your questions, just PM me here or ingame.

Welcome to gw2!

If you’re on EU and need help to get into dungeons, pm me.

also keep in mind gw2 is very different from wow

there is still teamwork but no tank

but that Oxtred said as guard u can give agis (blocks) to ur teammates use ur virtues and retreat also u can give blinds to ur enemy which makes them miss there next attack.

I play dps utility guardian which has nice dps and good support

4 5 0 0 5
full berserker gear
gs
sw
Focus

sometimes scepter, Hammer and staff depends on situation u sgould check the stickys for build guides

Im currently levelling my Guardian (atm only level 45) using GS, Sw/Fc but i just love using a hammer and whenever i do world events and there is a big group of players i enjoying jumping right in with a hammer for the fun Auto Attack protection and Mighty Blow animations. As the other poster said. PVE is faceroll so just enjoy and use whatever you like. If you will always be doing PVE with friends then GS/Hammer will be perfectly fine.

Your typical average gamer -
“Buff my main class, nerf everything else. "

Personally, I love Sword+Focus/Greatsword for dungeons. Hammer is pretty nice when pugging since it gives permanent protection, but if you do a guild run I suggest Greatsword/Sword+Focus.
