Yeah, if you’re using mostly knight/soldier, you’re not going to have much in the way of crit damage, as none of that has crit damage. For easy additional crit damage, take Exquisite Rubies on your accessories (cheapest crit damage, per point of stats lost) and make sure you cap Valor.

i’ve found recently starting your armor off with the following it’s quite easy to get decent crit rate and balanced stats:

Head/Chest/Pants: Knights
Shoulders/Gloves/Boots: Valkyrie
All jewelry: Knights + Exquisite Beryl Upgrades

alternatively, you can use berserker or ruby upgrades as mentioned to upkeep / increase your crit chance as well. i like balancing with some vitality though. then you can mix and match or use runes / sigils to help make the final tweaks.

(not taking into account ascended gear yet though as i haven’t really spent time looking at them yet)

[added: just saw they do indeed have 2 Knight stat combos. pretty neat. i guess like you said, go with whatever you think you’d need more. don’t forget to take into account retributive armor where toughness contributes to precision as well! though with the difference in looking at the two, wouldn’t be too significant between goign with major precision or major toughness.]
