New to Guardian
Firstly I suggest you read the guardians 101 thread, it explains all weps skills and traits, it’s stickied, and it’s helped me alot. In gw2 grinding is not the best form of experience , go for map completion early on and do all or any dynamic events you see. Also for crafting, it’s bit of a gold sink but also a good way to pump in those mats you get early on, you’ll get decent weps and armor and each proff can give you to ten Kbps worth xp, but pick either armor or weps and jewelry you should pick two things that require the same mats to craft ,
Ps the guardian is awesome

I found a bit of an odd learning curve on how to level at a good speed, it’s really more about the big events than the hearts imo. Dont be afraid to go a few levels higher, but dot pull too much aggro at once in an event.
Start farming materials early, you need crap loads.
WvW isn’t bad, but you miss out on so, SO much that’s given by map completion/dailies only to gain Badges of Honor. You also lose exploration exp once every WvW map has been explored, whereas you get exploration exp as long as you have map uncovered in PvE (yeah, obv I know).
As for playing Guardian, I would suggest keeping one weapon you prefer (you say it’s Hammer) but mix up your secondary weapon set often so you can get used to all the weapons. You’ll become a better, more knowledgeable guardian in the process. When I leveled I focused on Honor/Valor for good survivability, but at low levels it’s more difficult to make bad decisions. If you like shouts, you can trait for shouts, etc etc
Try to mix damage and survivability for Guardian, survivability is one of our strengths. If you like hammer, trait for symbols and something like Virtues or Retaliation duration for instance. Damage and survivability in one nice little package.
