I’m still fairly new to the game— I just hit level 30 on my first character, a guardian, yesterday. Unfortunately, with the big patch also having come out yesterday, I’m not sure what existing information still applies and what is outdated, and most of the guides seem to focus on endgame builds anyway.

I’m seeing gear with more than one stat very often now, and I think at level 30 I can qualify for group content (should I find a group running the sort of things I’d qualify for that’s willing to take a newbie along.) Up to this point, since I was soloing I mostly just took power to the exclusion of all else, but I made a guardian to protect and heal party members, not just to do as much damage as possible. What sort of equipment stats should I focus on for this purpose— should I try for an even balance, or focus on health and healing? Should I use a different setup for solo leveling? And are there any skills I should focus on unlocking ASAP if I haven’t opened them up already?

You can’t save everyone. Focus on your own survival and doing as much damage as possible while staying alive. I didn’t run my first dungeon until level 80, but what I can tell you from that past experience eons ago, is that you may want to start off using a defensive set like knights (power/precision/toughness), or anything you can get your hands on with toughness.
