Is there any sense in using passive? I think the biggest benefit to to the Permeating Wrath change is that it offers more choices in the Master trait; the GM trait itself only continues to benefit passive VOJ … which is clearly outclassed by using it actively because of Radiance Minors and DH traits.

What kind of build can you imagine using a passive VOJ? or even a situation where passive VOJ is better than active? I think this virtue is still one where the passive and active benefits are the least balanced.

For Zealos Scepter and Permeating Wrath primarily – especially for AoE tagging.

If you don’t have Radiance line and/or Virtues lines is another. If you are using Dragonhunter, you don’t necessarily want to use the Active all the time either until after you use your block abilities. So it’s more situational but spamming works well too for the more ideal damage output in DH.

Obviously if you have Radiance, you want to spam it or have the passive proc once on target and then use.

With Permeating Wrath and Zealous Scepter, you can fully stack might and get an obscene amount of burn procs off if you have a large pack of enemies and drop a Smite on them, each three hits from Smite will proc Justice.

It’s pretty funny, the more things there are, the faster they die.

For soloing particularly durable enemies who don’t have adds for you to recharge the virtue off of with Radiance as well, the constant burn procs are probably more valuable than the active burn damage. Although with a group of players I imagine the active probably winds up as more damage, I haven’t bothered running the numbers on it.

This is what I like about the state of VoJ. Either the active or passive will be better depending on your build.

Passive is better.
Find a large group of mobs, place all traps and symbols at one spot, then gs 2. Enjoy your 30k burns.
