Please Don't Be Ridiculous
It has nothing to do with coding. It’s just their fashion trend and they decided to stick with it, despite the fact it would kitten people off.
So every time they change cooldowns my weapon bar skills will be re-ordered if one is ‘higher’ than the other?
Idiotic rules are idiotic. It still makes no sense. Adjust the skills all you want but to be remapping the keybinds each time you do is just stupid as kitten.
I love how Guild Wars 2 is pretty much the only MMO that doesn’t allow you to reorder your skill bars completely, (even its predecessor allowed this), changes everything your muscle memory knew about playing the class with a particular (some would vouch for the most effective) weapon for a class…
… and the fanboys and interweb “hardcores” come out of the woodwork and tell you to get over it.
This was a bad business execution. Sure we could adapt, but for how long? Do we have to relearn every time they nerf us? (which for this class is every single patch, trending.)
It’s already built in to be able to drop skills where you want (as with utility slots) why can we NOT have that flexibility with our weapon skills? Please answer me that mr. fanboy. I’m a developer, this is not a hard thing to implement. Why would it be making an exception in “their” coding? We can rebind the keys anyways, our client UI setup has almost nothing to do with how it’s interpreted on the server side.
Get over your own ego and start playing like a paying customer, like the rest of us who are disappointed.

Well said. TBH, if anyone is really tired of people QQ-ing, just don’t bother posting. We do it to ask ANET for changes. We do it because ANET wants a satisfied community. If we all stop whining and let ANET do their thing, how will ANET know if something has gone wrong or something went too far?
ANET encourages feedback, we deliver.
Be ridiculous. Ridiculous is FUN!
You really didn’t just call me a fanboy…wow. Maturity is just astounding on these boards. I don’t like the change either and believe me there are plenty of issues I have with it, but seriously, it is 3 abilities that got moved. Adjust or don’t use the Greatsword.
I’m not going to get into an argument over this, I was trying to educate people on why the skills moved, not advocating for the reasoning. Improve your reading comprehension and then reply.
I don’t program or design so if it isn’t coding, then so be it. It is their style. If the skill bar setup of the Greatsword is so ingrained in your muscle memory that it bothers you this much, then you have certainly played enough to realize that ANet will not budge on their stylistic decisions.
No we will not get used to it and we shouldn’t have to. Right now we are being forced to. The only thing ridiculous is the fact that “Guild Wars 2 is pretty much the only MMO that doesn’t allow you to reorder your skill bars completely”.
Nuff said.

I’ve invested over 100 gold in my current greatsword, so no, I will NOT simply “switch to another weapon”.
Fanboy or not, your defending a very poor business decision. There’s 5 people defending this, you’re one of them. EVERYONE else is complaining. So what, 99% of people are completely wrong about this and you are right, and we should be convinced to sway your way to submission?
@ Gloombot
Yet again, reading comprehension problems. I am not defending anything, nor am I asking you to switch your weapon. I said adapt or switch, which are your only two options. I assume you will adapt. Maybe others think this is just too much to handle (lol?) and they will switch.
I liked the way it was, I was used to it. It is different now and it will take a little bit of time to get used to it. I don’t want to have to, but that is the way it is. If that brands me as a fanboy, then the term really has become obsolete. Anyone who likes the game and can stomach a change even though they disagree with it is a fanboy?
@ Rio
If you can’t get used to it you may have bigger problems than ANet changing the order of some skills. You either have serious motor skill problems or you are portraying yourself as a frustrated little boy venting on a forum. I’m sorry this change has been so rough on your muscle memory.
Anet = The Apple of MMO’s. Dont like the stupid change we implemented then kitten we know whats best for you.
That’s all, the change was unnecessary they could of left the skills in the original order.
What’s ridiculous is that we can’t reorder our action bars to whatever we want. A somewhat flexible UI is MMO design 101.
I got over the order problem – spent a lot of time slamming my GS into the ground instead of leaping at my target… but whatever.
What I want to know now is why my symbols, the source of damage, healing, combos, etc. (and yes retaliation) got nerfed so badly.

They altered the symbol to reflect their views on Retaliation; honestly, the symbol wasn’t that spectacular, and was pretty much the worst one out there. It was character-centric, gave out a lazy boon, and its damage wasn’t higher than the others.
I’d like for the devs to start a conversation with the players over the direction of Retaliation, since apparently its working status is not in-line with their vision. Instead, we get people moaning about having to memorize keys again, or that they have to get a bit more creative to keep Retaliation permanent on themselves during a fight.

I can’t really reply to someone who created a thread defending this change, saying they aren’t defending the change.
If you were in support of the majority guardian players’ view, you wouldn’t have created this thread.
But when there are so many traits for symbols (look at the whole Zeal line) it seems like an un-necessary and stinging slap in the face to nerf the whole of the symbol than to nerf the real threat: retaliation.
Please do not create threads to complain about complainers. Thank you.
