Hi,
I main a condi guardian in pvp. Now when i say please revert amplified wrath i am ok with the dmg nurf but please remove the icd. I understand that the devs are probably scared of people using shelter with stack dmg. However you only get 1 tick off. If your power, gettign like 10 stacks of burn still wont be that impactful.. and If your condition, is it really that bad? you only get 1 tick of it unless u have max condi duration. And its a skill aspect to time it. But regaurdless of the dueling aspect of it. The main concern is for AOE. As a condi guard, one thing you can do it go in first, pop ur block. APPLy burn on all your enemies for a time (as its still duration inc atm) and then get out. It allows you to contribute to aoe dmg and feel impact.. The might on block nurf is also sad but i guess i can accept it.

Please revert the icd. I dont think itll do anything but help out an underrepresented archtype and it really helps out for aoe purposes.

Can we just revert all of Amplified Wrath please? And while we’re at it, get rid of the ICD for Might of the Protector too.

You know what? Let’s just revert all of the traits back to how they were when they first previewed them (except for Permeating Wrath, I suppose).

Probably the most unpopular opinion here but, I think the ICD is fine. We’ve got more application options now.

If the ICD is a limiter for each unique target, I can live with that nerf… considering burns stack and Shelter could melt a Ranger quite easily.

It’s NOT OK if the following is the case:
“Five players hit you at once, only one player received a burn”

i want it reverted, I loved using it the way it was before.

If you watch the ready up they talked about it. Because burning is intensity now if someone used a multi-hit attack like Whirling Wrath you could practically 1shot them with shelter.

Hopefully the ICD is just per target.

If having no ICD causes so much problem balance wise why not give it the Chilling Nova effect – effect can not occur more then X times in Y seconds. Also carry this over to Might of the Protector too.

This then provides a upper limit of stacks generated which should help balance but allows for a more powerful feeling behind the skill. This way if played right gives an added noticeable power to your burst which is what I feel Arenanet was going for with these 2 skills.

I see two play styles behind ICDs:

  • 10sec ICD – Sustain playstyle that typically averages out the effect over time.
  • No more then 3 times in 10 sec – Burst playstyle that allows for power spikes for short durations with guaranteed effect down time.

I like this idea. I would be okay with icd if we got 2-3 stacks of might or 2-3 stacks of burning. Currently 1:1 ratio just feels like a rip off because you’re not going to get much for well placed blocks.

Like someone mentioned, they talked about this in the video you can watch on YouTube. They were seeing 5k damage ticks of burning without the icd. The icds on both Amplified Wrath and Might of the Protector are fine. We have many more sources of block than just shelter.

Too massive and applying global retal in a group of 3+ people (or zerg) would be massively OP. Retaliation builds always caters to group/zergy scenarios while Amplified Wrath is more engaging, bursty, playstyle.

Keep in mind that they also slashed the bonus burning damage from 33% to 15%. I think that if they’re going to give it an ICD that it should at least apply 2 or 3 stacks of burning per proc instead of just one.

If you check the wiki, you only need 927 ConD to surpass an equal investment in power based retaliation, which is easy to get when building for that. Even with the updated base stats you won’t be pressed to hit 1k, and after you’ve got the threshold condi will still always beat power.

Also, word on the street was RR was getting even better scaling, but that’s just conjecture for now. The only thing that’s really killing it is the bug preventing that scaling.

I like to give them the benefit of the doubt but then again in the Ready Up, Karl really didn’t sound like he knew the guardian well at all. Compare that to the Engi dev that was speaking and its worlds apart.

I don’t think I’ve seen guardians running around dueling players with huge might stacks, it don’t happen, and if it does it’s very short lived.
In team fights it makes total sense to reward blocked attacks with might stacks. It is how the guard is supposed to be played.
