Can you please show a reference? Maybe you have conducted a testing yourself?
I have also wondered about this and I will attempt to test it. Give me a little time and I will give you my findings.
I tested it myself. I took no traits apart from Pure of Heart and no healing gear at all. Then I went to the training enemies in the Mist (I think I tested it against the Guardian there). I let him smack me about a bit so I had lost health and then I activated Virtue of Courage or used “Retreat!”.

I agree with Ynna. With Honor trait line at 300 and nothing extrea into healing; Healing Power at 300, Pure of Heart healed for 675 on removal. Pictures to show if interested.

Given that at 100 Healing Power it heals for 650 and at 300 it heals for 675… where are you getting a ridiculous bonus? If you build your equipment/runes toward healing power much as possible I can see repeated 700+ heals resulting in that kind of bonus over time, but not without exerting the effort to make a build that can spam Aegis at all. Pure of Heart seems rather resilient to bonuses from Healing Power.
Seems like Pure of Heart is 8::1 which effectively means Selfless Daring would get a much better relative bonus if it really got a 1::1 bonus on Healing Power. Pure of Heart definitely does not get ridiculous bonuses from stacking Healing Power.

Whoops, if you were meaning Amount Healed::Healing Power then that makes more sense. But at the same time 2.5:1 would be wildly inaccurate. I was going Healing Power::Amount Healed and was going by it taking 200 more Healing Power to see a 25 heal increase. That is at best 8::1.

@Archmortal: It’s also worth noting that your very first Aegis of a fight will not heal you, since you’re at full health.

Given that Valorous Defense has no internal cooldown, is anyone else seeing the potential for crazy, gimmicky chain triggers of Pure of Heart providing everything lines up correctly?
Valorous Defense grants Aegis every time you hit 50% health. Pure of Heart heals you and bumps you up above 50%. The next hit drops you down to or below 50% again. Pure of Heart heals you to above 50%, and so on, and so forth.
It’s not very likely to happen at all, and would require a pretty improbable alignment of rapid attacks at around the 50% mark, but it’s funny to imagine.
That would be amazing. Boost your healing power and see aegis apply continuously would be pretty hilarious but effective.
I just tested it and the Aegis wouldn’t reset every time I hit half health and healed back up. Maybe there’s an internal cd?
If so, they must have added it recently. I’ll make a note of it.
