Hello community xD

I am new to this game ( played this game for a month only ) and my first character to get to 80 was a human guardian!

So i naturally went to try out PvP to test my abilities.

For the first few games i got carried really hard ._. like i didnt know what was going on, got insta nuked and stuff like that… So i went to search up some guides for a tank guardian with some dps, focusing on toughness…

Now bear with me the above aren’t important its just an intro xD

Now for the main purpose of the post: Now that i bought better gear for tanking (knight) and i have a bit more experience in the game, i went back to PvP and got pretty frustrated… This is because many players dont follow up with me when i charge in( but thats fine maybe i charged at a wrong time) but what i hate the most is when people just ditch me in the middle of the fight when they are only at half health, leaving me there to die…

So i have decided to come here and ask you guys, as i am fairly new to PvP, what advice do you have for me who wants to tank for the team and for PvP in general, like what could i have done wrong, where to improve, things like that xD

Sorry if this post is confusing, i am just typing out what i am thinking in my head as soon as it pops up xD

I run mostly a GS, skills being judges intervention, ’RETREAT’’, ‘’HOLD YOUR GROUND’’, and the invulnerable skill…(dunno the name xD)

To makes things clearer, i am just asking for tips from tank guardians on how to effectively tank and not fail like me xD

Unfortunately with the current state of the guardian class, in sPvP you’re going to have to choose to play either a tanky role or a DPS role. There isn’t a very efficient middle ground.

For a tanky build I’d recommend running a staff build with shouts and probably AH. For DPS, a burst meditation build featuring GS, sword, or scepter would probably be best.

This should help you out with builds, but as Black Box said, you either go dps or full bunker (to support your team).

Also, PvE stats and level have 0 effect on PvP. You can set everything by going to the Heart of the Mists and click the “PvP Build” button on the middle-top of your screen.

Watching top players also helps a lot but there aren’t really any active guard streamers. But you can watch streamers even if they play another class, because they often tell why did they make a given decision or they’ll highlight their team’s mistakes so you can learn a lot about the gamemode from that too.
