Guild Wars 2

I have been asked a few times now about my set-up and if I have put it up on metabattle, the answer is no I haven’t.
With that being said I decided to repost it here and if anyone feels like uploading it on meta they can. I dislike playing trap spamming and not a huge fan of LB, even though the damage is great on it.

I’ve been playing with this build for a while now in PvP, permissible to swap Sword for Scepter against 2 or more DH or LB DPS Rangers. This also depends on how much close pressure you want to put out or be safe from traps etc. If you prefer to maintain the mobility then switch Mace for Scepter.

Unscathed Contender is also permissible to be swapped for Retaliatory Subconscious for less DPS but added extra sustain. Renewed Focus can also be swapped for Dragon’s Maw for DPS, but I don’t suggest it.
Alongside those traits mentioned above, Stalwart Defender can be picked over Communal Defenses but you lose an extra aegis between weapons and traits but gain more toughness and reduced shield recharge rate. Soaring Devastation can be swapped for Piercing Light if the player chooses to do so.

Overall this build provides excellent physical damage pressure, with great survivability through huge amount of blocking, protection uptime and aegis, condition removal on block and meditations, spike heals and regen through M/S and meditations. It has decent team support and zone control depending on the team set-up and playstyle.

I don’t really see what you want to achieve with this build? It is no real pointholder, I don’t see it as good groupfighter and a guard decaper is useless without mobility xD

At first I thought this will be a bunker build after reading the weapon sets. Then I saw marauder gear and was confused. Two melee weaponsets that don’t offer real killpotential and then a squishy gear with defensive traits.

I think it would be better to either go for the full damage or the full tank.
How do you play this build?

PS: Looked at it again and yes.. it looks like good sustain even with marauder but I still question the offensive part.

Communal Defenses doesn’t grant yourself Aegis, so that’s purely a team fight trait. Stalwart would be better if you’re acting solo.

Looks good to me. I think the mace has a weird fit with the build and I believe you would be gaining more pressure with a longbow, but that comes down to playstyle. Judges Intervention also would provide a little more movement/utility for you and has 12s lower cooldown compared to Contempltion of Purity (you already have crazy amounts of condition removal). But again, it comes down to playstyle.

@Star. Switching the M/S to GS, Hammer or LB will provide a higher burst output through a single spike rotation, you are correct.
The defensive part does provide decent team support and zone control, no it doesn’t rival that of the bunker set-up its obvious.

Though the offensive side looks random, it can provide a decent damage output. I have managed to spike a Shield of Judgment for 2-3k, Protectors Strike for 4-5k, Test of Faith up to 6.5k of course that was done on pure zerk players.

The idea is that the build won’t leave you open, it has that high protection uptime, the aegis spikes (to you and allies), the high block counters, the condition peals and spike heals it also provides decent zone control supported by damage to an extent.

It does need more testing, more so in team fights so if anyone would like to test it further and share their experience please feel free to do so.

I have more to add, but I gotta run… this wont answer everything or maybe even answer anything. I have had success and failure with the build.
