I’m trying to make a build that involves a Mace & Shield, Touchness-style, and I have seen on spec websites armor called “soldier” which add +power, +toughness, and +vitality, but I’m not seeing anything specific towards that on the Trading Post or in the crafting menus. Anyone know where I could get some of this style armor?

Karma vendor at the Temple of Melandru in Cursed Shore is your best bet. Not all of the armor has those stats though. The helm and boots are different stats.

Armor from Ascalon Catacombs also gives PVT stats, along with a couple of other dungeons—AC is probably your best bet, though.

the dungeons AC, SE, and HotW all give Soldier gear with their respective tokens. also, with the exception of the helm, the various temple vendors sell soldier armor for karma. finally, you can trade Badges of Honor from WvW for soldier gear.

just to add a little, if you’re in a “hurry”, SE path 3 and HotW path 1 in my experiences are the most “stress” free, as well as quickest paths. SE path 1 can be decent if everyone knows what they’re doing : ))

i used to run all 3 paths AC for quick PTV stuff but haven’t gone back since the changes. which i should probs revisit to check ’em out.

Karma vendors at the god shrines sell pieces of this. (Except for the helm)

A more consistent way is to just run AC for tokens to trade for gear for those stats.

Yah, if you are looking for the looks of the Karma armor u can do what I did and still purchase a whatever helm, run AC a nd get the helm, then transmuted it lol

Edit: And well the build does work. For Dungeons I usually run Full berserker or Berserker/Valkyrie Armor but at least for the first kitten boss on CoF (Slave Driver) I had to start running my PVT armor with Cleric’s Mace and Cleric’s Shield for the Heals, protection and overall tankiness. Before he used to kill me in like 4-5 hits but now I can facetank that SoB lol while the rest of my team either comes in melee afterwards or just ranged attack him but either way is fine because of the heals.

(And I change my traits on the Healing Tree to favor Symbols on that fight and some others)

IMO Soldier is not so great as it neglects healing, which is an important stat for a guardian. and once you get past 3k armor there is diminishing returns for adding more to it. Also bear in mind you could probably craft something better if you have 400 armorsmithing.
