Question about P/V/T Set for WvW
Important Note: I don’t consider myself a PRO player.
IMO: Full PVT gear is overkill. I didn’t really pay much attention to the people who said so when I first became 80. Plus PVT gear is so easy to get I had myself almost fully geared in exotics the day I hit 80.
And if you’re running with a zerg in WvW, you will not notice that you’re lacking damage. (And I do feel like PVT gear shines here) I find myself teleporting into the enemy Zer with judges intervention, and either creating a lovely distraction while my Zerg runs through them. OR I’ll semi casually make my way back to my Zerg spamming staff auto to distract them. And while survivability is great, you don’t do much damage.
If you want to do significant damage, you need something to complement tha PVT gear.
I’m going to go craft some knights gear when I get done with all these mid terms and integrate a few pieces into my armor.
But there are other popular options out there, such as clerics gear.

Hi,,
My main is a thief, and I’m a WvW addict…I run a P/V/T set with berserker jewels, weapons and accessories and I’m loving the set for 1vs. many encounters when I roam…
My guardian is now 80, I’ve got the Karma for the P/V/T exotic armor and was wondering if that set is also good for guardians, or if it is overkill…
I want agood balance between damage and staying power, I’m currently running full Knight exotic with beryl orbs, valk weapons, and a mix of accessories (knight and berserker) which traited runs me at about 2.7K armor…between 35% and 50% crit chance depending on weapon/set, 82% crit damage and roughly 17k health. I feel a bit squishy at times as I noticed that there ain’t much escaping a 1vs. many fight with a Guardian. It’s fight until death mostly…so I’m starting to think that its probably worth investing more in staying power…and roll with my thief of a warrior if I want damage…maybe guardian wasn’t built for this type of playstyle…
So for you PRO guardians out there; is the P/V/T armor worth it?
Don’t go full pvt since that will nerf your crit chance.
Mix it with some knights. (Maybe half and half, or whatever combination you want until you achieve a crit chance rating and hp you are happy with)
Also, if you run shouts, it would be good to pick up 6x superior runes of the soldier for condition removal in your armor.

I run Knights w/ Lyssa & Sapphire.
Base w/ food/oil (not stacks) etc, is about 2850 attk, 3.2k armor, 43% crit & 51% crt dmg and 15.5 health… for when i’m zerg busting and being one of the first in.
Otherwise, if you’re just solo runing around or with even a small grp doing small sqirmishes, you can go more glassy and be just fine.

Just to be clear, I’m definitively not agree at all with Fomby (especially when you speak of cleric set o_O, no offense thought ^^) but I’m right with Amins and DeathPanel.
Im used to run a mix of Knight / Zerk.
But last month I tried a PVT setup.
It’s working really great for survavibility. The VIT boost is small but really lovely if you have high regen.
But, I left this set because of my damages. With PVT set I feel sacrifice 2 damages to get 1 defense. So I decided to use it only in large scale playing (guild run, zerg run, ect…). But on medium/small scale immo the best to survive is to kill your opponent that’s why I love more Knight/Zerk because the balance is better..
My opinion, PVT is good but overrated, their is better setup.

PVT has it’s place but overall, if you’re trying to find a alanced build, full PVT might be a bit too much. there are builds that dno’t utilize crit chance and can be fine without it, but crit chance can be so good. not just for Guards obviously.
that being said, i like seeing decent crit damage as well so i like going for a mix of knight’s and valkyrie armor, and then a mix of knight’s valkyrie and berserker’s jewelry. then my weapons i’ll mix and match as well anything from knight, valk, berserker AND soldier (PVT). then always using food, trait or oils to maintain a additional crit chance.
