Hello,

I’m completely new to the game. Been playing for a week and leveled my Guardian from 1-80 because i heard using the level 80 boost wasn’t advised.
I’ve been pvping lately and i’m only at rank 12. I started to like using Dragonhunter build in pvp and i found a comfortable build for it. Here are some questions i have.

1. What weapons should i use for PvE? I like the bow, should i stick with that or use another setup.
2. What kind of stats should i be going for on armor pieces?
3. Where should i begin on getting ascended armor?

For PvE, longbow is a crap weapon due to abysmal damage. The holy trinity of GW2 PvE is damage, damage and damage, so you should adjust your gear accordingly. http://qtfy.eu/build/guardian is quite good guidance for that purpose.

1. You can play any weapons you love in PVE environment. Just play however you enjoy the most! When I was a newcomer like you, I’ve always have melee and range weapons during world exploration. For faster travelling, use Greatsword (3) and Sword (2).
Every weapon has it own use in GW2, specially in Fractal Dungeons. For instance, Snowblind – Longbow (3) traited with Knockback is great against initial Ice Elemental to stop them from melting the firebon. Or using Shield (5) at the precise timing to prevent boss’s aoe attack on firebon. Even in Swampland, use Shield (5) at boss’s aoe projectile attacks. etc etc. Too much to mention here. Just pm me in game if you need help in fractals =D.

2. Stats wise if you are aiming for end game content such as Raid, you will need Full Berserker stats. But if you found yourself dying a lot, try change a few trinkets to Soldier stats before going full Berserk.

3. Ascended Armor – there are 2 ways. Farming mats & leveling crafting professions or the rngjesus way by completing Fractal Dungeons. Level 50 above fractal box above starts to drop ascended box if im not mistaken. For my case, i hate farming, so i chose the latter xD.
