"Ranged" guardian build, what do you think?
Link broken…?
Link broken…?
You need to copy-paste it into your browser. The links from that website have been broken forever on this forum, which is the fault of the forum. It has to do with the semicolon in the links.
Do people let you use this build in dungeons….I hear that guardians are more of a tanky class.
I mean, dont they say that we need a tank guard and not a ranged….

I wonder if shortening the links could work…

Yes, it works

That’s exactly why I made this build for myself, I don’t like tanking.
I prefer ranged/support.
Nobody have yelled at me yet, but I’ve mostly went in with guild mates
I wish there was a dual spec thing, I would love to try this build in pve

Thanks man, I didn’t know that worked.

I honestly don’t know where you people keep hearing those lines. I don’t remember ever seeing anyone saying “we need a tank guardian” and I’ve been doing dungeons since pre-release..
And if I would I’d throw my useless Tome of Wrath into their head.
Somewhere someone said in dungeons people are expecting guardians to tank, and so if you do not have a tanked guardian better warn them so they can have another tank
Thanks man, I didn’t know that worked.
I’m not a man, but you’re most welcomed ^^
Whoever is meleeing is “tanking”. People run dungeons with any set of classes. The only exception is if they need a specific class for some exploit or because of some OP ability (like guardians with their reflection in fractals). No one cares whether you are “tanking” or not.
Anyway, I don’t like the build. 20 in valor is just bad because those traits are very bland and really just filler until you get AH with 30 points. Far, far better to go with 20 in honor for EM and SA as well as the vastly superior minor traits. I also don’t like your gear which is very unfocused.

Okay, i’ll look into the traits and try around with other ones, any suggestion for gear then?
I just went with what gave me overall well-rounded stats
Kind of refreshing to see someone talking about a fun themed build as opposed to pure stat based “Is this the pinnacle of efficiency” build. Plus 1 to you sir.
If you like the idea of a caster then you can try using a torch instead of a shield. The 1st skill can be used as a projectile, at the cost of longer cooldown time. The 2nd skill is a breath skill that does some pretty good damage. If you do this swap out Inscribed Removal for Radiant Fire to reduce the cooldown on torch skills. Since you’re not using a shield anymore swap out Honorable Shield for Meditation Mastery and take Smite Condition instead of Retreat. Removes a condition, deals damage, and does so with pretty blue flames to boot. I would also recommend swapping out Strength in Numbers for Purity.
May I also suggest Purging Flames instead of Hallowed Ground (unless your sieging). Deals more damage and cures more conditions and gives 3 stacks of might when you use Mighty Blow inside the ring. Also looks cool. Don’t forget the Hammer skill Ring of Warding creates a combo field of light. It doesn’t state this in the tooltip but using Mighty Blow inside the ring gives area retaliation.
For your gear you could go with Knights and tweak with zerker or Valkyrie depending on your tastes. With all this extra precision you won’t need the Sigil of Accuracy. Change it Sigil of Force and put a Sigil of Air or Sigil of Fire in the torch.

I run a build that focuses on Right-Hand Strength. I use Scepter/Focus and Sword/Tourch but can adjust for GSword, Hammer or Staff.
Scepter is a very good weapon in PvE, It misses sometimes but not too often and its damage output is strong. Smite is good too if you can time it when the target is stationary or your root is available.
I built this for survivability and DPS. Run 0/30/20/20/0 with P/V/T armor and trinkets. Use Omnomberry Pie and Master Maintenance Oil to boost crit and gain healing. Whats nice here is that you can adjust some traits n go Mace/Shield or adjust others for GSword, Hammer or Staff. Nice for adapting to the dungeon or specific boss.
With the food and fast crits from Sword and Scepter I can usually heal myself to full when I get hit or if I’m in melee and need to back out. I seldom use my Signet heal anymore TBH.
I’m sure there’s a build more suited for scepter dps but I like this one as it’s versatile and effective.
GL out there,
Blood~
