Renewed Focus
Well then don’t dodge in renewed focus because there is absolutly no point in doing it? When you dodge you interupt whatever skill you were doing, why should it be different for renewed focus? :<
What Keksmuffin said. It’s not a hard thing to avoid.
Can we recycle this topic to talk about how we only have on Elite Skill worth using and while that skill is pretty decent it doesn’t have the impact other professions’ Elite Skills tend to have?
Well, I wanted to dodge right after Renewed Focus so I can avoid more of AoE infront of me but it looks like I pressed Dodge a bit to early and got surprised when my Virtues were not recharged…
I would disagree calling it “pretty decent”. It’s just the one that sucks the least.
Oh, you cancelled a skill and you didn’t get the full effect of it, what a nonsense
How’s this any different from “I wanted to use XXX skill then dodge but that cancelled my skill because I dodged too early”

Pretty much this. At least now it benefits from meditation traits, but it (as well as the tomes) still pales in comparison to even some of our utility skills.
The way anet explained it, when we ask on this before, if we got even partial benefit of the skill it goes on full recharge if interrupted. Like with shelter if you get pulled or hit with an unblock able attack that intrupts then you don’t get the heal from Shelter either. It sucks, but this is how anet does it.

And it makes a lot of sense. Other heals in the game are a lot easier to interrupt than Shelter and thee players don’t get any healing just because they were casting it for a split second. Yes, those don’t go on full CD, but you forget that Shelter has a block, if it wouldn’t go on full CD, people could just cast Shelter, cancel it a split second before it’s done, and in a couple of seconds they could use it again to block attacks. Same with Renewed focus. Besides, I’m sure this healing skill gets interrupted the least among all classes.

Yeah I know, Shelter was a bad example. It doesn’t happen often that Shelter gets interrupted. Even as I wrote that in, I could only really think of 3 or 4 things that have ever interrupted my shelter. I understand why the decision was made, was just using it as an example, Anet has stated, if you get any benefit of the skill at all, it goes on full cool down. Its just something we got to live with, like it or not.
That’s working as intended. You don’t get the full effect of most skills when you interrupt them.
There is never a reason to dodge during renewed focus; you dodge to avoid damage and that stops you from taking any; it’s not too hard to time your dodge so that it happens right after. I used to do that a lot when I was newer to guardian, but this is a player issue because it means you aren’t timing your dodges and most likely just spamming them to get out of trouble and gain distance without planning ahead, managing your endurance and positioning yourself properly so this isn’t an issue in the first place.
And yes this skill is often used just because alternatives are lacking.
for there you have been and there you will long to return.
What probably should have happened is when Anet updated Elite Focus is to have added another element to Renewed Focus like adding +100 Endurance immediately on activation besides adding just another 1s to the duration.
… Elite Focus is a master trait after all …
I was playing in pvp with meditation trait and renewed focus but I didn’t get the heal when i active the elite. I try with normal meditation like the heal skill and all other meditation and I got the heal 2k from them. I don’t know if it’s bug but when u active renewed focus with mediation trait u don’t get the heal
( heal you when use meditation)

I believe it heals at the end of Renewed Focus. Can’t test it right now.
I tested it and watched the channeling and the end
no heal

The heal and the fury trigger maybe 1/2 – 1 second after the channeling is finished.
I’ll go do some pvp then confirm if u receive any heal or not

This is working as intended since you still utilize the invulnerability as said by a dev.
Although I agree that it should still reset the virtues, that is currently not the case, so you need to learn not to dodge or hit esc when you use your elite. The same applies for shelter, if its canceled/interrupted it will go on full cd w/o the heal.
The bigger problem is trying to cast either Renewed focus or a heal skill at 33% health and neither one of them activating…
Warrior – The New Burninator! Strongbad would be so proud!
Guardian – Burn for you, heal for me, block for me and uh…sorry Im all out of gifts.
Today I played my Guardian in EB during reset and realised something that I think its a bit broken and should be fixed…
I realised that if you use Renewed Focus and press Dodge while casting it, it will interrupt Renewed Focus and it wont recharge your Virtues…
That got me killed twice today and hope Anet see this as a bug too and decide to fix it…
So you want to be invincible, while evading all attacks? Why? Wait until it renews your virtues, I have been playing guard for years now on gw2 and I’ve yet to have an issue with this.
