For open-world PvE, is a full-blown Retaliation build at all effective? Or does the slow attack speed of most mobs pretty well relegate such a build to “meh”? If anyone cares to share their experiences with such a build, I’d be happy to listen. Thanks.

you’ve pretty much stated it. : )) if retaliation is built in “passively”, i think it couldn’t hurt. though one could alwys argue that you could spend more resources to get your DPS higher.

Retaliation boon for bosses it obviously sucks, but for farming it’s what makes Guardian the best profession for it.

You can pull 5~10+ with ease, Symbol of Wrath and AoE away while they also kill themselves. As long as you have some defense/regen, you can survive the damage and kill them before you go down (and even if you do, there’s high chances they’re almost dead too).

I wouldn’t recommend building specifically for it though, simply by using Greatsword and not forgetting to drop a Symbol of Wrath and maybe Leap of Faith for the Retaliation combo you can kill random mobs in PvE relentlessly.
