Isn’t it about time someone look at Retreat shout (from guardian) and change it’s name.

This is a game about active combat, we don’t run away from an enemy, rather we charge in and go for the kill. Every single time a guardian uses shout is to CHARGE at an enemy and make sure everyone stays alive with the block.

So why exactly are we telling everyone to run away?

How about “this is my only sprint skill”? Kinda long but quite appropriate…

Charge is already a skill name (they don’t do same skill names cross professions), but I like “Incoming” +1 to that

Since there are things in the game that can only activate while in combat (like on weapon swap traits), maybe the voice shouting ‘retreat’ could only happen if you are in combat when using the skill.

And then maybe the skill can be changed further for outside, or in combat. Like the skill does more swiftness and no aegis if not in combat. But if in combat the skill does exactly what it does now.

just change it so it’s more effective if used based on your positioning relative to enemies

Yeah, they sure don’t

it would make a lot of sense to change it to “Incoming!” Is there recording of it from the voice actors? If not I don’t think they would spend money for another recording of it, just for a name change.

I believe there’s a recording of it used in the Battle of Khylo match. But that could be “Incoming Siege!” a well…

This topic has a long beard. I think it’s as old as the guardian class. But yes, since people use this ability for speed, be it offensively or defensively, it would be more consistent if the ability and the voice line would be “double time”. That one is neutral and works for any situation.

At this point it isn’t worth the investment to change the name. They’d have to get localization and translations for every supported language and voice overs, which cost time and money, but especially time. It takes so much more time to localize than most people give it credit for.
