Returning player, how have Guardians changed?
Check the stickied FAQ. It is rather comprehensive and have builds for all types of gameplay.
But overall, nothing has changed.
Much, anyway. AH is pretty derided as a crutch nowadays.

much weaker than it used to be,
- retaliation isnt our strongest weapon. now scale damage from power which only add a tiny bit.
- retaliation buff duration was cut so far.
- retaliation cannot be stacked from 5 source at once.
- spirit weapon is killable, and very squishy.
- greatsword symbol nerf, longer cd and skill rearranged.
+ mediation is now all instant cast.
+ mediation instant cast trait now gives fury.
+ symbol have wider radius.
+ signet also got buff abit.
maybe thats all ?

consecrations:
-+ Purging Flames removes 3 conditions on cast and reduces condition duration by 20% whilst active
+ Hallowed Ground increase Boon Duration by 20% whilst active.
+ Scepter auto-attack speed increased a little

Sounds like good changes, well other than making Spirit Weapons even worse than they already were!
+Orb of light travels much faster and heals friendlies it passesthingsgh a little now. +Empower lasts a little longer and channels quicker.
+Line of warding can be cast on the move.
+slight damage and more vulnerability has been added to scepter 3.
+a lot of healing traits and skills scale better with healing power.
+might on greatsword 1 attack chain lasts longer.
+more vulnerability added to blind and immobilize traits.
+more damage added to scepter and unscathed contender traits.
+more powerful strength in numbers trait.
+/- vigorous precision altered.
+ mace damage trait adds a lot of healing power.
Lots of small things. Mostly good but also mostly unnoticed. There are probably more.
Orb of Light always healed on passthrough.
Also, all signets have had their passive stat bonuses doubled, and a stunbreak property was added to the 10% damage reduction signet. Many are useful now.

Healing Breeze had a buff to ally based heal but no longer stacks 20+ secs of retaliation when traited with Healer’s Retribution
Well, Altruistic Healing isn’t the Meta anymore —DPS builds are, and that’s not just for Guardians. Berserker builds with Ruby Orbs or Scholar Runes are the meta in PvE for just about every profession.
If your going to play dungeons or fractals you can’t get away from taking (XI) Master of Consecrations in Virtues for Wall of Reflection and Purging Flames, or from putting 15 in Radiance for a spamable, AoE blind that stacks Might on the party.
After that it depends on what weapon you’re using. Most people put 30 in Radiance for a Sword/Focus build or 20 in Honor and 15 in Zeal for a Hammer build.

I am very sad to inform you that fortunately guardian players have not changed a bit. You can still tank, heal and do dps.
- sword skill 2 no longer blink anywhere your target is, some elevation in effect.
