Returning player rolling a Guardian
sounds like you want to bunker my friend. An a-bomb of an ele getting your team down? No worries just hide in the guardian’s bunker and weather out that storm and when the rain and flames die down jump out and kill their kitten.

Bunker! That sounds awesome, the way you describe it. I guess I know what I’m going to look into first then. Thanks for the suggestion.
Anything I should generally keep in mind, anything I definitely need to have or anything else that you could recommend me before I start looking for bunker-related information?
Bunker- fine for wvw, excellent for spvp.
I have played bunker guard in spvp and it’s been a great experience. I suggest you go for a build that doesn’t rely on AH, because the main role of spvp guardian is to support the team. Of course you can try AH if you are just starting out.
The virtue line is imo one of the strongest trait lines for helping out yourself and your team. For Spvp I suggest aiming for pure of voice (honor line) for condi cleansing shouts, and when going down virtues pick traits that can give you stability and condi cleanse on use of specific virtues. One of your main jobs apart from cleansing and staying alive is to provide stability for people/yourself to stomp during heated group fights. You may also want to keep an eye out for a trait called Resolute Healer down the Honor line that causes a knock back to anyone around you when you go in to res your team mates because it will interrupt the enemy attempting to stomp.
For dungeons: Bunker is usually a bad idea.
You’ll be wanting a more dps/group support oriented build for dungeons with around 25 points down virtues for support (longer consecrations (purging flames, hallowed ground, wall of reflection and in some cases sanctuary) + condition cleanse virtue of resolve traits) and some pts down radiance for constant might vauln and blind spam off Virtue of Justice to mitigate damage to you and your party
Here’s an extensive PvE guide for guardian: http://www.dtguilds.com/forum/m/6563292/viewthread/12501056-dnt-guardian-build-5914/page/1
It has a few different build choices to pick from depending on how comfortable you are. I recommend you try the Max Utility build of 4/5/0/0/5
Unfortunatley there is no one build that can go across all 3 game modes and be optimum, but fortunately it/s very easy to get gear and swap up traits for whichever mode you are doing.

actually the stick has some good stuff I really suggest you look there I think its the spvp guardian named one eh something like that if I wasn’t such a lazy bum I’d get you the link but yeah its just in the stick and glad i could point you in a good direction.
@Slayer thank you again, I will be sure to look through that as well.
@J Eberle thank you for you comment as well, very informative. I understand that there simply isn’t a build that excells at all aspects of the game. Since I like a bit of everything, I’ll have to learn swapping between builds. I still need to get back into the game a little more, it’s been a long time, to get a full grasp of all the in-depth information, but I’m sure I’ll get there again.
I’ll read through everything the two of you said and suggested, will make my way to 80 while experimenting a little bit and then make my decisions on what builds I ultimately want to go with.
Go warrior, warriors have just as or more sustain that guardians and pack a better punch at the same time, guardians have to sacrifice one to dothe other.

get yo warr playin butt outa our guardian build talk
Look i play and 90% of the time (like here) using paladins. I love the concept but for the life of me, there is something in the class that fries games designers brains.
Honest advice, Guardian is the Cooler class, while warriors are the Better class.

Mind elaborating in detail, through traits and gear along with how the guardian works in a group of 5 to not be as ‘good’ as a warrior?

Raw damage build warrior is better, period. Support they can do this

which grants them 900 passive self healing, shout healing the party for 2500k on short cool downs, as well as gratting better buffs like Fury instead of 1 or 2 stacks of might. Keep a good amount of attack power and 40%crit through fury and you still have 5 traits to customize further. All while having a decent 2800 armor and 21k hp pool.

A guardian would do more damage in a group than the warrior you posted and are mid-high tier damage compared to all the other classes. Shout heals are terrible support and won’t prevent someone from getting 1-2 shotted. Blind spam, projectile defense, aegis, and group stability are a lot better support. You bring guardian for damage mitigation/reflects and warrior for damage buffs.

If this is for 5 man dungeons… I figured you just lacked understanding of guardian but it seems it’s carried over to warriors as well. I think it’s best you brush up on that before you go trying to talk people out of playing guardians.
