Well Guys many of you probably have seen the last stream and I have some thoughts about it. Actually there are 2 playable Specs for Guardian:

a) Meditation Offesive Guard
b) Bunker Shout Guard

My opinion on the last Stream is that Revenant will make Bunker Guard pretty much useless, since it has more Team Support and strong Bunker Potential PLUS High Condi Dmg. So we Guards are left with only Meditation Offensive Bunker and some weird gimmicki Condi stuff. Also i personally wont play the Traps cause i dont think they are worth it. (Hard to catch people, no sustain etc.)

(I really dont care much about Bunker, since I play Offensive Guard since Beta of GW2, i just want to see making Anet Meditation Guards much better, since it will be the only playable Spec and we lack extremly in Mobility. Healing is probably the worst way of sustaining, better is to avoid DMG. So i want to see a Port on Longbow just like the Thiefs one please, just with a High Cooldown)

Have a nice Day

To be honest, it actually kind of annoys me how selfless and supportive revenants can be relative to guardians. I wish I could stack that much % outgoing healing as a guardian.
With the new specialization, it seems that guardians are moving even further away from support.

anet made a full healer class with one legend, one traitline and one weapon
The whole role of the guard is halfway negated, i think he will work halfway as a boon machine to fill the small holes the Rev has
There are two missing trait lines and the Rev has a stronger Bunker potential with Jalis and Ventari line than guard
Why should a pvp team use a guard over a Rev, right now the guards seem to move out of the meta. And i think Snoow is right, after that guard only has offguard builds, which will work i think, but against the sick stuff others will get (cough…chrono stronk) guards will really evolve to a side class like ranger was before the pewpew update.

Ventari Revenant won’t be anything other than a delusion for people who want an MMO trinity healer (it won’t be). The strength of bunker guard has always been the boon support and condi clear. Revenant can’t lay a finger on that.

Revenants are slowly gaining that role, they already have some boon support and condi clear already and there is still 2 other legends they are releasing. People are speculating Glint may give boon support and the Devs did say Vantari will be strong with a other legend they didn’t release it.

As of right now with Jalis/Ventari combination, support is (not including what weapon you use)

-Regen (anyone near the tablet gains 2 seconds of regen with a 1 second down time traited)
-Stability (Inspiring Reinforcement)
- Dmg Mitigation (Dwarf elite, similar to protection)
-Condi Removal (Purifying Essence, heals players for each condi removed)

But I am holding judgement how the Rev is vs bunker Guard until they release the other 2 legends since one of them could be boon support.

Who knows maybe Rev + Support Guardian Duo will be unkillable : 3

In regards to support Guards still seems to win when it comes to solid boons distribution is what may keep Guards still in favor. Ventari had some very excellent support/healing, but the gotcha was having to worry about positioning. So for PvE and small PvP fights I can see Revs being preferred, but for WvW Guards looks to have better large scale utility.

Bunker Guard has gotten a huge buff with the new trait changes assuming they haven’t changed much since their last reveal. They can now spec fully into Valor Honor and Virtues in a build such as this:

http://dulfy.net/gw2traits#build=AgIF7ARYA6g~

Mace/Focus, Staff
With Shelter, Smite Condition, (MI or JI), CoP and either RF or the new #5 tomb elite for utilities
Either soilder/cleric amulet (leaning towards solider now that there is more access to fury)

The biggest thing holding back the previous bunker guard was the abysmal dps it would bring to a team fight, this is some what rectified with the focused mind trait being included into the meditation GM allowing the guard to have great access to fury, along with the boon duration addition to the staff making it’s might stacks from empower potentially being worthwhile. With all the sustain coming from the meditation heals and new combined symbol heal trait (+mace regen symbol) allows the bunker guardian to pack more offensive amulets/runes/sigils or go all out with support.

The smiter’s boon trait is a massive buff to its heal adding an extra 2k heal to shelter as well as providing a significant burst in dps (plus extra condition management). If shelter becomes a concentration then this is also a massive buff due to the master’s of consecrations trait lowering its cool down and increasing it’s blocking time.

Even with all this extra sustain the bunker guard still provides its usual team buffs such as group wide stability + stun break and group wide condition cleanses through its virtues. Constant regen with the combined symbol trait + improved mace trait along with massive might stacks with staff plus CC.

TL:DR Using the build linked above, it is my hope the extra fury and extra might duration available to the bunker guard will allow it to hit harder in team fights while providing the team with all the usual buffs through the use of it’s unique and powerful virtues and mace/focus, Staff skills. All this plus added sustain through the new combined traits.

I see a lot of either or potential for Revenant. But not enough of a simultaneous mix for bunkering. Revenant has horrendous access to stunbreakers too.

When they are in Jalis they have strong direct damage support. But they are very vulnerable to conditions. Their heal removes 3 but it has a 30 second cooldown. Their elite is a stunbreaker, but it is also a casted stunbreaker. They have a lot of access to stability, at the expense of either a dodge roll or performing a 5 second pulsing attack that procs “when hit” things.

While in ventari they have a lot of healing and condition support. But they are still vulnerable to direct damage. Even if they can heal for 20,000 in 15 seconds, that won’t make up for the lack of protection or block/invulns. They have a huge amount of projectile destruction, but nothing hugely relevant in melee range. They have no stun breaker in this stance and must rely on legend swapping.

The most they can get from a legend swap and the invocation line as it goes for bunkering is around 6000 healing, a stunbreaker, and some condition removal, every 10 seconds.

What does this mean?
If you expect the enemy to be pure power or pure condi, take a revenant.
If you are unsure of the mix, my dear god do not take revenant. People will be able to easily pick up what to do based on the stance they are in. If they are in ventari load them with cc and direct damage. If they are in Jalis load them with conditions. The more hybrid builds that come out the less wow revenant will feel.

Sure they can. Combine Ventari with Mallyx, Mallyx pulls in condis from allies, Ventari removes them. I believe there’s a trait for removing condis when you swap legends as well so…. yea.

But that being said, AoE Healing Signet is nothing to scuff at when it comes to Guardian (I’m talking Absolute Precision + Battle Presence).

But that isn’t boon support. And it is not as efficient as the guardian who isn’t limited to 10 second cooldown on accessing active condi removal on himself AND allies.
