Revs get BWE feedback changes
Just because they haven’t stated anything else for any other class doesn’t mean it’s not in the works. Let’s just be hopeful and patient!
Sorry guys! This one is taking a little longer to get written up, but we are working on it!

Woot, logged in just to reply! Red post on guard forum, please come visit thieves. Looking forward to see the changes!
Should we expect to see these today still, or is it now safe to leave the computer screen?

Someone didn’t save the word document and they have to track down the changes they made all over again :P
Sorry guys! This one is taking a little longer to get written up, but we are working on it!
I hope the reason it’s taking longer is because Dragon Hunter needs significant drastic overwhelming changes to make it fun and viable.
Fix the new Virtues, fix Longbow, scrap the traps and traits and start from scratch.
I would also like to hear something about shield.
Sadly i bet all we will read is “Dragon Hunters are in a good place right now, we will lower the cooldown on shield skills by one second. You’re welcome, see you in another three years.”
Sorry guys! This one is taking a little longer to get written up, but we are working on it!
Looking forward to it. Keep it up Robert, people know you work hard.
It appears the “5pm Friday Syndrome” has affected Mr. Gee and the Guardian/Ele team. Maybe we’ll get it Monday…maybe…
I would imagine it’s taking so long because the Dragonhunter specialization is a such a mess that the only “fix” for it would be scrapping half of it entirely.
I agree with Fashion Mage, The traps are bad, the virtues are worse than the normal one’s and the Scepter is still better than a bow.
Scrap the traps and make chants or Echos and have a 1 handed spear. Paragon FTW !
I highly doubt they are reworking any mechanics at a fundamental level. You need to come to terms with the fact the Dragonhunter will be a longbow trap elite spec. Thinking they will scrap all the work they put into making the traps because people may not use them is probably not the case. (case in point see: shield)
The delay is probably either because they are still making changes to dragonhunter and tempest or they simply did not get all the information together on friday and left for the weekend.
I would hope they’re reworking it, but I certainly don’t actually expect anything that impressive from ANet. What I’m really expecting is a bunch of minor changes to a messy and boring specialization.

Dragon Hunter doesn’t need an overhaul and neither does shield. They’re probably unsure exactly what they can mention as possible changes. Some changes might need more testing to be solid enough for writing down, out they’re just trying to gather all the “relatively confirmed” changes from different areas. As we know, anything written by a red post is considered an unbreakable bond and promise to last beyond the end of time by the community, so they’ve got to be careful with what info they release.
Making traps able to be deployed from range (like consecrations) is a way traps could be viable in LB WvW/PvE. They have their niche in sPvP but are less than ideal otherwise.
There is an entire thread of really good feedback/suggestions that I won’t rehash here but DH isn’t really all that “Dragon Hunter” like in it’s current form.
What Longbow using Guardian is going to run up to a Dragon’s foot to put down a trap? You missed the mark on the theme here, anet.
Dragon Hunter doesn’t need an overhaul and neither does shield.
Please tell me you are trolling. Or at the very least brand new to this class and have no idea what you are talking about.
I have playt a lot with mace/shield in pvp/pve/wvw… But its tru that the shield skills are not that great! The only thing I like is the push back of skill 5…
And dragonhunter…. I think Arenanet have wasted there time with making this… The virtues and traps are really crap. I hope they will change things because other classes get hugh upgrades with the new elite thingies…. I’m worried that the gaurdian wont will be liked when things wont be fixed!
@Arenanet: please do something About this issue. Also let the fans know what your plans are becaus now the futher is not sure for gaurdians.
Greets
I think Anet will make changes to the Bow to make it almost usable but it wont be worth swapping out a trait line just for an “Almost viable” weapon and bad virtues. Traps will remain useless just like the shield.
Rev is the baby now and all the eggs will go into that basket.
Don’t ask for too much you will only be disappointed.
Yeaa! Gaurdian got a lot skills that are not usefull… Spirit weapons crap, shield crap, and now traps and bow. xD
The DH isn’t really that bad. I believe all the mechanics are in place the only things that need to be done are some bug fixes on the longbow skills, making virtues instant cast, fixing projectile speed of AA & some audio/visual adjustments.

Agreed. The other thing I’d like is at least one more hit on LB 5 and a much shorter cooldown.
I enjoyed using Procession of Blades. I don’t really have room for more than one utility in my current setup.
the dragon hunter isnt terrible, my main problem with all of the elite specs is that we have to use the trait line to use the new weapons…
overall i feel that it really hurts builds id love to use zeal, honor, valor or zeal honor, virtues with the LB but i cant. the virtues themselves were ok aside from the glitches i had where a mordrem sniper hit through my F3 while i had it active. and the F2 not being responsive. the biggest issue i had was the traits not being great. i had trouble really noticing anything good or exciting to use with the DH line. LB #3 doesnt feel that great to me and the 4th skill could have been a bit stronger. the 5th skill worked ok but we need a way to reduce the cool down on these skills.
i really hope however that the traps have some work done to them, to make them worth taking over meditations and shouts there is no reason to take traps when these 2 skill types are so strong. :/

Not really “2 hours ago” now.
But it’s kinda funny, right?
Chronomancer & Reaper:
- Popular specializations (see the poll that was posted in the HoT forum)
- Get a nice list of BWE feedback changes
- The same developer
- And said developer bothers to post in the forum of the other two specializations, too
Tempest & Hunter:
- Almost universally hared (see the same poll, or anwhere else really)
- Names don’t fit the specialization (“high level” my small cat)
- List of BWE feedback changes…? MIA.
- The same developer
- And said developer has not posted in the specializations’ forums after the BWE
ArenaNet, could you please let Robert design all other specializations, please?
Robert Gee is wonderful. I’ve really liked his work on the chrono and reaper in general. The new elite trait lines synergize really well with the core trait lines for both of these professions. The new skills work great. Well the reaper shouts were lackluster, but he went and fixed that and pretty much addressed most of the reaper concerns.
Roy for the revenant has also been awesome with his interaction in the revenant forum. He’s listened to a lot of our feedback and made many of the changes we asked for.
But don’t count your dev out. It was starting to get late and it was a Friday, I’m sure he’ll have your changes posted tomorrow. Hopefully he addressed all your concerns too.

Not a main guardian, but I just wanted to say that this is absolutely right.
While DH and Tempest (Tempest the one standing in the worst spot) are so constantly bashed in the forums, the developer doesn’t even talk to the players or anything and continues in hiding. (Get ready for some detached responses from the feedback when we finally get some who knows when)
It would certainly be nice to have a developer that is actually engaged, understand the classes he is working on and talks with the community. Doesn’t have to be the same guy working on Chronomaner and Reaper to not overload him, but it needed to be someone else indeed.
Robert Gee is far more in touch with his communities through Necro and Mesmer, he also seems to know the classes much better, he really understands the changes he’s making and the big picture of how things go together.
Karl seems utterly lost, he never posts here, totally out of touch with the community and if you saw the footage from HoT PvP he doesn’t seem to understand Guardian well, especially DPS Guardian.

I dont even know which dev is in charge of Guardian, but that person has butchered our favourite class for a while now.
They absolutely butchered Guardian traits.
2 of Zeal Minor traits dont work with half our weapons.
Fiery Wrath: Nerfed by 3%.
Wrathful Spirit: Unused because it’s so bad.
Shattered Aegis: Nerfed badly, only used because the other choices are also bad.
Symbolic Avenger: Nerfed by 10%.
Healer’s Retribution: As bad as Wrathful Spirit? Wait, actually way worse.
Amplified Wrath: Nerfed with internal cooldown.
Perfect Inscriptions: Nerfed to give useless aura instead of condition removal.
Radiant Retaliation: What is this I dont even…who other than troll builds uses this?
Courageous Return: Completely ignoring that it is bugged. Does not work when you also have Indomitable Courage active. Meanwhile, Mesmer’s even tiniest bugs are being fixed.
Might of the Protector: Nerfed with internal cooldown.
Vigorous Precision: Nerfed a total of 3 times, including the nerf to Vigor itself. Admittedly, other classes also got their Vigor trait nerfed.
Selfless Daring: Nerfed to half of it’s potential just for PvP, followed by making the PvE version also halved.
Glacial Heart: Made to compete with Absolute Resolution. It’s as good as gone forever.
Battle Presence: Does not work anymore when Virtue of Resolve is on cooldown.
That’s over half of our traits that received hits with the nerf bat.
I also want to just mention our joke weapon, the Shield, icon of our class.
Then they give a horrible clown name to the Elite Specialization: Dragonhunter!
Because the Dragonhunter’s Virtues were subpar compared to the Guardian ones, they decide to make them comparably worthwhile by
All Guardian Virtues: Nerfed to 600 range…
But the Dragonhunter’s Virtues are still subpar even when compared to the now butchered Guardian’s Virtues.
Along with the fact that some Guardian traits do not work with Dragonhunter’s Virtues(e.g Wrath of Justice),
We also get terribly unimaginative compulsory(minor) trait: Pure of Sight.
Pure of Sight is bad design
1) I can design an elite-spec weapon that should Cleave. I then make it not Cleave. I create a minor trait just to make the weapon Cleave. There is no possible way to actually use the elite-spec weapon without Cleave(because it is minor). I filled a minor-trait-slot with something that should be baseline.
Similarly,
2) I can design a Longbow that should do X damage. I then change it to do X – 10% damage. I create a minor(mandatory) trait Pure of Sight that now makes the Longbow do 10% more damage. I just stole a minor trait by artificially creating a weaker version of the original(X damage) Longbow. (Yes, I am essentially saying that you nerfed/stole 10% damage from Dragonhunter Longbow just to make Pure of Sight trait)
This is comparable to:
Create a disease, spread it in the world, create the cure, make everyone pay $50 for the cure. You are now a millionaire.
Create a problem(nerf) with the elite-spec weapon. Design a minor trait(that everyone must take) to fix(un-nerf) the problem. You now have 1 less minor trait to design…
You get the gist of it. This is a scammer’s way of designing things.
The following things should never be on elite-spec minor traits:
Cleave, Damage Bonus, Reduced Recharge, Increased Range, Increased Number of Targets.
Because you stole from baseline of the weapon/skills to make those traits.
P.S: If these were major traits, then that would not be a problem, because players get to choose between taking the Bonus Damage or not. The fact that Pure of Sight is a minor trait means that we lost a minor trait, because they took some damage from our baseline to fill that minor trait spot instead.
I want a new dev that evaluates and balances Guardian fairly compared to other professions.
I want a new dev that doesnt just slams the nerf-hammer on half of our traits.
I want a new dev that makes the Dragonhunter as fun as $50 worth.
Still waiting, Rob.

I said it would happen. A part of me hoped it wouldn’t, a part of me hoped ArenaNet would actually care about this game and about this class.
Sadly Dragon Hunter will continue to suck, they did not read any of our feedback.
I hope i can still get a refund.
I like the idea of the bow! Gaurdians are heavy armoured, thats great! And some traps could be usefull… But the way its now, is not balanced.
And gaurdian overall: they need to have a look to the shield and spirit weapons…

These posts are spot-on!

Tarnished Coast
Wow all the skills that everyone hated they just added damage/duration and said “FIXED”. No wonder he didnt want to release this on Friday now he’s gona get forum bashed to oblivion moreso than before. He really didnt pay attention to any feedback since he didnt even mention possible future mechanic changes unlike Robert on the reaper. PS with all the conditional traits might as well rename the class the Boolean.
What really impresses me is that not only Robert made awesome changes to the reaper and the chronomancer, but he also responded to guardians and elementalists that were asking for their own changes. He did this while he was not even responsible for these professions. Keep up the good work Rob!

I truly wonder what is going on with our developer…
Same! Would be amazing if he turned sudden hero and had time for the real fixes. It’s never too late to make some changes. I mean I am 100% that a good portion of us don’t want DH to be OP; we just want it to be enjoyable and add to the experience. It doesn’t have to have the best of everything but it should appeal to at least portion of its player-base.
It makes me frown heavily when I know it’s safe to assume DH will be one of the least if not THE least played elites upon HoT live if nothing we left feedback about doesn’t get at least applied for testing. DH could be amazing if it gets the love it needs. But. Will it get it?
(Queue “I need a hero” song please. ;_;)

Robert Gee is not the guardian dev and if you have seen Karl in livestreams he looks like he wants to crawl under a rock when the hosts give him the spotlight, regardless how amazing his ideas might be communication is obviously not his forte.
