Right Hand Strength Builds
I’ve been playing a Right Hand Strength build and am looking to start a conversation about gear/weapon/trait choices, etc.
For traits, I’ve been playing:
Radiance (Blind Exposure, Powerful Blades, Right Hand Strength)
Honor (Superior Aria, Empowering Might)
Virtues(Vengeful, Supreme Justice)Based on some forum reading here, I’m going to consider dumping Supreme Justice for Pure of Voice, though I’d need to consider the implication of losing 10% boon duration.
Gearwise, I’ve been building a PVT set of armor and trinkets with ruby gems in the trinkets. For Runes, I have 2 Strength for Might Duration and 4 Citadel for Fury duration and generating Fury. Between significant Fury uptime and RHS I feel like I don’t need to go out of my way to gear Precision, which is nice. Sigils are Strength and Force.
Weapons, I’ve been using Sword/Shield and Scepter/Focus. I am a pretty new 80 and the PvE content is still new to me, so I feel I have to play Scepter so I can stand back on content I’m learning.
For Utility skills, I think Save Yourselves is a must, I’ve been using Judge’s Intervention and Purging Flames for mobility and condition removal and because they help tag mobs in PvE. If I swap to Pure of Voice, obviously I’d want another shout or two.
The build is entirely based around the synergy between RHS, Empowering Might and fast hitting weapons. I think it makes at least a reasonable amount of sense. Looking forward to hearing suggestions or potential improvements.
Is this a PvE only build or are you looking to pvp/wvw with this as well? Either way I would dump supreme justice for something else, as hitting on burning on 4 attacks is not going to be that much of a boost. I would say take the 10 out of virtues and put it into zeal for fiery wrath to increase your damage on burning enemies by 10%, because you have VoJ refresh on kill, you should be able to spam it every mob on PvE.
I personally build for WvW so i’m not sure how much help other than that I can be depending on the content you are doing.

in my opinion, honor line is for 2h/group play.
RHS is for 1h weapons which is for solo fights.
so it would be weird to take so much radiance and honor together
Bash, I’m a WvW noob but will likely play a fair amount; I won’t play any material amount of highly competitive pvp. I’d like to make something viable out of this setup for WvW, but I don’t know if its possible. My experience with WvW to date is standing in a zerg dropping AoE bombs for a couple of hours with a Necro.
Zackie, the synergy between RHS, fast hitting weapons and Empowering Might (and Vigorous Precision but that’s only 5) jumped out at me when considering builds. Where do people usually go for RHS builds?
Thanks for the feedback.
10/30/0/25/5 is what I run for RHS.
Fiery Wrath – 10% to burning targets
Radiant Power – 10% to condition’d targets
Elusive Power – 10% when under 100% endurance
Powerful Blades – 5% with Sword
Throw on Empowering Might and Inspired Virtue+Renewed Justice+Blind Justice you’ll build a decent stack. Its also nice to grab the Honor tree simply for the HP, you can more easily go into Zerker gear this way. With Omnomberry Pie and Sigil of Blood you’ll heal a decent amount, get in trouble just back off to ranged until you can get back in. Mace is another option here as it gives more healing, damage output doesn’t match Sword but its not too far off if you can manage your symbol and Protectors Strike.
If you want a bit more versatility and support go 10/30/0/30/0 for the ability to work with 2h weapons and/or Pure of Voice, also good for WvW. 10/30/30/0/0 will give you that sought after Altruistic Healing and some big crits, your hp will be lower here so more proactive survival is needed.

if you don’t feel like you need more precision for crit, why not do cavalier’s trinkets for crit damage, will probably scale better than the vit you’re getting from soldier.
also, everything seems to point to high toughness targets getting threat more often, so that could be a problem if you aren’t running AH for extra healing.

I ran RHS for a long time and liked it, but it just always felt wasted when I needed to use 2h weapons. I would switch RHS for Signet Mastery under certain occasions, but that still felt weak compared to some of our other traits. As much as I like RHS, I found it better to invest in precision on armor and trinkets to allow for more versatility in swapping around weapons.
I still run 15 in radiance for VoJ spamming because that’s an incredibly strong minor trait for WvW. And I still run RHS in sPvP because it’s an excellent 1v1 trait with 1h sword. I just feel as a guardian, building around one weapon set was a poor choice for me because in any given dungeon I will switch around my weapon set at least 3 or 4 times.

the problem is there’s a ~1sec cooldown on empowering might procs.
so it wouldn’t make much of a difference if you hit that much faster.
honor line is usually for healbots
RHS builds are usually for making other people the healbots, by kicking their kittens.
This is the build I have been considering using. Please note I have not added any Ascended equipment into this and the stats are based only off of exotic gear and oil/food.
It is emphasizing might generation with a ranged alternate for the encounters that can make melee iffy. If you’re concerned about mob tagging I would use staff instead of scepter, but you lose out on the RHS benefits. I haven’t yet had a chance to really experiment with this build, so criticism is welcome.

10/30/30/0/0 or 0/30/30/10/0 use Meditations to stay alive with the Monk’s Focus trait. You get a lot useful stuff out of them. One skill on a 16 second timer will heal you, deal damage (bonus if you have a condition on you) and clear a condition. I Use knights gear with ruby orbs, berserker weapons and a mix of berserker and knight jewelery. I’m starting to shift more towards the beserker jewelery or the knights gear the precision as the major trait as I work into ascended gear. I’m over 75% crit chance and like 150%+71% crit dmg with 3k defense.
