Roaming 2handed Meditation build
Hey guys! This is a new roaming build ive theory crafted for the 15th. It uses the hammer and GS, along with the new GM trait in honor so that you don’t have to build for any vitality at all.
Some features of this build-2050 power
-19k health
-35% crit chance, with near perma fury
-2900 armor
-106% crit dmg
-nearly 500hp dodge heals
-25% movement speed from speed runes
-good soft CC through hammer and hydromancy sigils, easy to stick on peopleSound interesting? Then read on. You’ve got some of the highest sustain in the game, even more so with 2 sigils on 2handers. Extremely tanky and yet able to put out awesome dmg. A common combo i use is mighty blow->JI->RoW->swap to GS and lay on the hurt while theyre ringed in and cant escape. This will get people downed or very close to it, so you can either Binding blade them back to you or leap, or swap back to hammer and immobilize them followed by another mighty blow
Im having some troubles deciding what sigils to run after the patch. Obviously hydromancy, but energy, leeching, accuracy, and air/fire are all good as well. Plis help
Looks good!
As long as Anet struggles to give us soft cc on at least ONE weapon (Yes arenanet you heard it), I’d go with one hydromancy in each weapon. The 2nd one is pure preference.
I just have to say that inner fire is extremely bad. I would just go for 5 in zeal for inner speed since it either gives you a short break from smart opponents or helps you kill the dumber ones. Since you are using a hammer and gs you can also either leap through it or blast it for retaliation.

@Kraljevo yeah im definitely gonna have a hydromancy in each, i just cant decide what to put for that second slot. Im leaning towards leeching right now but…intelligence could be good to i guess
@Monoman inner fire is an awesome trait. It allows for perma fury when fighting some of the most popular roaming builds, aka condi engi, meditation guard, condi necro, condi/bow warrior, PU/staff mesmers, d/d eles. The only class it doesn’t help with is thieves. And if i were to change it it would be all into zeal or virtues. The minor zeal traits are terribad
Not 100% convinced by writ of exaltation, especially since you don’t have zeal 5, but I guess it can be handy in some situations. The symbol will be large enough to cover the ring of warding if you trap someone without writ of exaltation. I’d probably choose pure of heart just from some extra healing.
Also not sure about inner fire when you can take something like firey wrath, but the potentially high fury uptime does sound nice.
Also, you didn’t set your 30 point honor trait in the build link. I’m guessing maybe empowering might would be the pick there.
The runes of speed are unfortunate, but that 25% movespeed is just so necessary… I use runes of rage in my PvP build and they can work out pretty nicely. You can try those if you don’t mind being slow. The proc chance on the 30s fury will likely be going up to like 25% in the patch too. They do necessitate an overall higher precision though.
Now if only litany of wrath was good…
^ zeal 5 doesn’t make or break WoE. Using a hammer alone with WoE is awesome. And i didnt take a GM honor trait because im planning on taking the new trait, which isn’t in the calc yet. Traveler runes also work a lot better than speed runes. Speed are just what i have available atm
I’d just like to say that I’m running a similar build to this in sPvP, except I’ve taken the signet cooldown trait (for the heal) and a berserker amulet.
It’s working pretty well so far The extra vitality massively improves survivability without taking much out of dps. I’m winning most of my duels (much more than before) and of course, hammer and GS are beastly in group fights.
Have someone tested this out in WvW?
Also do you think this would work with soldier armor? I already have 1 set of that with Traveler and I don’t feel like investing on a new set of armor and runes :/

As the OP, yes this works very well in any solo or small group (2-9ish) setting.and here’s what you would gain and lose by using soldiers
+150 power
+2k health
-150ferocity
-150 toughness
It seems like a valid option to me. Do make sure you use all zerker weapons and trinkets tho, as without these you just wont do enough dmg. However there are some things you should change than what i had in the OP. first off use omnom berry ghosts/pies for food as they pack quite a bit of dmg and sustain. Second would be to use master maintenance oils, as 35% crit chance isn’t quite enough.

I disagree with the 35% Crit Chance not being enough because with the Fury boons you get from using Meditations, you’re pushing that up to 55%. I run with 35% and crit hit plenty of times.

You’re assuming whats plenty to you is also plenty to me. 35% isn’t plenty to me. Therefor i use oils

Good point, but isn’t that the same thing as to what I said, but just in reverse? See to me, there’s a sweet spot with Crit Chance that once you start getting higher, the other stat’s sacrifice is too much.
